Leeds Linked With Edwards
Leeds Linked With Edwards
Sunday, 26th Feb 2012 16:04

Leeds United are eyeing Blues right-back and current skipper Carlos Edwards, according to one of this morning’s tabloids.

New Whites manager Neil Warnock is claimed to want the 33-year-old on loan, although there seems little possibility that Town would be interested in such a switch with Edwards firmly established at right-back and with no other senior options in the squad.

Leeds may well be amongst a number of Championship clubs understood to be monitoring Edwards’s situation but more with a view to a deal in the summer when the Trinidad and Tobago international’s Town contract is up.

Earlier this week, Edwards said that he wanted to remain at Portman Road beyond the end of the season.

Good player but not convinced at RB. Would love to see him play RM and running at defences. Leeds on loan.? Its a non starter and more Press nonsense.

It is certainly not a coincidence, that the regular purveyors of garbage on these news stories, are the very same individuals that believe Edwards is good positionally and deserves a new contract.

I can only assume that these are misguided tidings, provided by those that don't actually attend matches.

For those views that are written following match attendance, I suggest you trade in your guide dog, his days of football punditry are over.

Chris Hutchings said the first sensible thing I have heard him say the other day, when he said Carlos would be better suited as a wing back.
But we don't play that system do we though.
But,despite mistakes,You can't really deny that he has done his best.

I'm not sure if anybody else agree's,but I think Jewell might just walk away in the summer.I think we may just win one then lose two until the end of the season, which is not really good enough. He did it at Wigan, and I think he will do it again. Or Marcus Evans may decide on a change in the summer, when some good and better calibre of managers may be about.

It seems his agent has knowledge ohe of what he might be offered as he would not be touting CE to Leeds. IMO the reason we cant get RB CB in the doors in is because of the excessive demands made by players when trying to agree personal terms. And its because of the likes of Pompey the players are downright greedy and its about time they woke up to the fact fooball is broke and we the fans cant keep stumping out £ 35 a week just to lign their pockets. IMHO players should be paid more on a results based wage than collecting vast sums for some of the poor performances we have witnessed this season. And owe the club for below par performances and losing games. We then may see more commitment to the cause.
Agents should really be banished from the game as well as they are just leaches on the players and clubs earning stupid money for almost nothing. Greed is destroying the beautiful game!

I must say it is the devil we know,, but a contract to fit the bill must be made to him, and see what his answer is ?????

Football is a funny old game,, a week ago we beat Cardiff 3-0 but yesterday Cardiff played superbly against Liverpool and nearly won it !!! now earlier in the week Liverpool thrashed Brighton 6-1 !!! then we go to Brighton and lose
3-0 !! can anybody make head or tail of that ??????????

I still say we should approach Rangers for Neil Alexander, he looked a decent goalkeeper the short time he was here.. We still do not have what we can call a No.1 ???

Before anybody say I know it has gone off the subject of Carlos ??????

Not a RB, wrongly played there by Keane and PJ. His inability to cover back and positional play is poor, attacking he offers some options but would not be a big loss if a proper RB was brought in. Can't see Warnock being interested in him.
JAS0999, he was offered an extension to his contract last year which HE turned down, so no good having a go at PJ over this one. Hope he is looking for a RB and edwards can then move onto the right midfield.

Edwards has done well this season and should be offered a contract within the club's pay structure. However he does not cover his centre backs like a good full back should, Cresswell is the same. They are both better attacking.
In reality if we are to tighten up at the back we need a new back four and a goalkeeper. Smith and Cresswell have potential but will make mistakes and need to learn from experienced colleagues.

Shove off Leeds. If he is commited then he will stay and he seems to have relished being captain.

Loan is laughable and just mischieve from the agents. Happy for him to be given a new contract based on him being cover next season (salary should reflect this) at either RB or on the wing. Club needs to sign a proper RB and has done for yonks.

No worse positionally than Cresswell on whos side we concede most!! Get him on a 2yr deal and quash the stupid rumour. We are a mediocre championship side currently and my worry is that we will attract nothing better than what we have got or what we get rid of.Cannot afford to just let decent players leave without replacements being lined up.For crying out loud, we havent replaced McAuley yet,and i predicted all of last season that wed be comical without him-how prophetic!!

Anyone who thinks Edwards is a right back clearly knows nothing about football ,he and Cresswell constantly out of position leading to the centre backs being drawn out wide and big gaps in the middle where we concede goals and the stupid blame the cente backs .Far to many crosses coming into the box from both sides also .The whole back 5 have not shown themselves in any good light defensively all season which is why we have conceded the most goals in the league anyone claiming any of them have been excellent all season are retatrded.
We have enough talent going forward we do not need the right back to do this aswell ,what we need is defenders who can defend ,David wright would be a better option every day of the week .
