Murray on Losing Side at Wembley
Murray on Losing Side at Wembley

On-loan Town striker Ronan Murray was on the losing side as his Swindon team was beaten 2-0 by Chesterfield in the Johnstone’s Paints Trophy final at Wembley this afternoon.

Murray came on as a 62nd minute sub with the score at 1-0 via an Oliver Risser own goal, but was unable to get Paolo Di Canio’s side back on terms before Craig Westcarr added a second for the Spireites in injury time.

The disappointed Irishman later tweeted: "Great support today we are gutted but [we will] win the league now. [It] is the only way to put it right!"

Ex-Town loanee Jay McEveley was in the Robins’ starting line-up, as was one-time Blues Academy striker Alan Connell. Another former Town loan player, midfielder Jimmy Juan, was left out of the Chesterfield 16 having recently returned to training after an ankle injury.

Swindon, who are managed by Paolo Di Canio, are currently top of League Two.
