Trio Could Return But Bullard Ill Again
Trio Could Return But Bullard Ill Again
Thursday, 12th Apr 2012 13:15

Blues boss Paul Jewell has hinted that he could recall Jay Emmanuel-Thomas, Lee Martin and Andy Drury for Saturday’s game at Crystal Palace after the trio were rested for Monday's defeat to Leicester. The Town manager has also revealed that midfielder Jimmy Bullard is again out due to illness.

Jewell says he could again look to shuffle his pack against the Eagles: “We rested a few on Monday because they’d put so much effort in the games.

“This is the longest that JET has played football, and Lee Martin and Andy Drury at this level. Those three players who were rested could come back into contention for Saturday.”

There are no new injuries amongst the 16 who were in the squad on Monday but midfielder Jimmy Bullard is again sidelined: “Jimmy’s ill again. He’s seeing the doc at half-one. He’s got really bad sinuses, so he certainly won’t be involved on Saturday."

Bullard was previously out of action due to illness in early January when he was suffering with flu.

Winger or full-back Jaime Peters is the only player currently out due to injury: “Jaime Peters has got a thigh strain and that’s it.”

Bullard ill?.....pull the other one Jewell.

Hopefully Bullard and Bowyer will be gone in the summer and we can get in some younger more committed players

Retroblue how will bullard be gone? He has another year and we can't afford to pay him off on his wages and I doubt he will walk!!!

The signing of Bullard was a poor one. Hull fans warned us! There were also a small minority of fans who questioned this signing - particularly considering how much we are paying for him (reported to be 18K a week).

Chopra, JET and Martin are key players and more importantly FUTURE players for ITFC. It was a truely shocking decision to drop them rather than players who are lilely to leave in the Summer i.e. Murphy, Bowyer and Leadbitter. However, sadly, with a manager like PJ at the helm these type of poor decisions have to be expected.

Jas0999 - they were rested, not dropped. Can't you tell the difference? Cretin.

Hopefully Pearson gave Jewell some tips on how to get rid of Bullard last Monday

Bullard was on this p*ss with a number of the players in Mayfair on Monday night. If he's ill, it's certainly not affecting his boozing.

Whilst 'we' pay Bullard money only some of us can dream about, he's out on the Town boozing it up.....if only I'd been better at football :)

Jas - you truly are a muppet of the highest standing!!

How on earth was the signing of Bullard a bad one at the start of the season!? Portman Road was buzzing in August when we started the campaign. Every single town fan was delighted he'd signed given he kept us in the division at the end of last season. Your memory is a short one but we owed Jimmy a lot and he was duly rewarded a contract here. He could have gone Prem but chose us.

Unfortunately it hasn't worked out but that's football.

As for dropping Martin, Chopra and JET - players need resting every now and then! Do you understand this at all? In fact, do you understand football?

To be fair we were all screaming for Bullard to be signed. Feel more than a tad let down by him. We are always hearing how much he loves his football, loves the lifestyle more like. Hate to say it, but he is a prime example of what is bad about the modern day footballer

Bluelady: Ref Bullard. If Evans is willing to simply pay off Priskin, and Ivar etc etc.
Im sure Bullard will follow in a similar fashion, or be loaned out. Nothing is impossible. His contract will be up this time next season and if we dont intend to play him, I suspect we will cut our loses tbh !

I'm not a Jewell fan but I agree with cornishnick and others as Bullard signing looked like good business at the time. No manager gets all signings right and Jewell has cetainly brought out the best in Drury, JET and Martin.

I hope that Jimmy can make it back into the team I actually think he is a good footballer but Im thinking that his feeling unwanted right now prehaps thats why hes out drinking I know his training hard....think he might be sulking a bit as he loves to play football....get him involeved and I think he will bust a gut for the team.

Bullard will come good next season after a proper pre-season - and a few of you will look a bit silly.

Funny how everyone is now seeing Bullard for what he is.........in it for the money only. Wonder if any of these people are amongst the idiots who voted him player of the season on the basis of a dozen anda half games last year.
Dont like to say 'I told you so' but......
As pointed out above, we have him for the next season too and on the inflated wages PJ obviously agreed to. Just think we as paying supporters are lining his pockets in return for....................diddly squat. Jimmy Bullard, wouldnt give him the steam..............

In Drury, Martin , JET, Carson, Hyam, Smith, Chopra, we have the beginnings of a core for the team next season. There is however, no doubt that Jewell still has to bring in 4- 5 players or more in the summer.

Don't have a problem with PJ resting players although i find it strange to rest so many at once. Bullard has been a massive disappointment, that said he kept us up last season and how much would we have lost if we had gone down?
Retro, i tend to agree that we have the core of a good team, not sure about Carson to be honest, I have yet to see anything that convinces me he will make it here but with Cresswell, Joe Wight the future is looking better.
Jas, why do you continue to troll this site get back in your cage and eat your trill.
