Town are looking for ways of improving the Portman Road matchday experience ahead of next season and want to hear fans’ ideas.

What do you want to see before the game? What sights or sounds as the players take to the field? And what about at half-time entertainment?

What’s impressed you elsewhere at other clubs in the UK or abroad, or even at other sports? Add anything you’d like to see introduced at Portman Road below and we’ll pass them on. And yes, they know about winning more matches.

Bring the away fans closer to the Sir bobby stand. it will definatley get the atmospher in the ground going, which in turn will help the players on the pitch. Too often this year we have been able to hear a pin drop!
also agree with the lower prices, fill the place and make PR a fortress

Cost of a big screen:- £500,000. Cost of moving the away fans:- £0.
Its so obvious Mr Clegg, stop hiding behind the Chief Steward's 'Health & Safety' excuse and MOVE THE AWAY FANS!!!

Do you remember when sky started doing Monday night football and we used to have people parachute onto the pitch or absail down the stands. I also liked the game where you had to kick the ball into the boot of the car from the half way line. Maybe we can build a wicker-man for Delia?

Moving the away fans to the other end of the Cobbold will not improve the atmosphere in the rest of the ground!

What's so special about the SBR stand, only about 2000 or so in there make any noise. The noise you make only just reaches the SAR stand.

Moving the away fans will simply mean two sets of foul mouthed yobs shouting at each other. Swearing of itself does not add to the atmosphere.

1. Stop the goal music, why do we need music to celebrate a goal. I wanna cheer not be forced to sing der der der der

2. Reduce adult ticket prices which would be affordable to the working class man. This would create a better atmosphere, which will have a positive effect on the performances "the 12th man". There must be an optimal solution where the club can still generate the same level of income by the increased attendances. More supporters= more income, not only for the short term but the long term as well. Let's get Portman Road rocking again.

I agree with the sentiment of home and away fans being closer but it ain't gonna happen. It's not the clubs shout its Suffolk Police! As for improvents my opinion for what it's worth is as follows:-

Gate prices are extortionate, I'm a season ticket holder but friends only come along when there's deals as they consider on the day prices OTT

Tv's on the Upper North concourse, while your stood waiting an eternity for service it would be nice to be kept upto date with the action on the pitch as is the case of the Lower North, Britannia for example.

A big screen would be good for showing highlights/interviews from IpswichPlayer before the game and at halftime.

Reduce prices on food and drink. People arrive last minute cos they're fed up of being ripped off and stay in the pubs etc until the last possible minute to get their money's worth.

Music! It's a load of pony! Play music of a different selected year each home game. Say 1981 one week, 1978 another week. But ten minutes before kickoff either ramp it up with some decent blood thumping music or dare I say it none at all so the fans maybe encouraged to sing rather than endure the new awful version of Singing the blues!

Most of the suggestions so far are gimmicks might be short term fix but in long term we need more people in the ground! For which you need just 2 things. 1 cheaper tickets. 2 better football on the pitch. Then the atmosphere will return.

I wish we had an "Ipswich song" to get the crowd singing along. I don't care much for "singing the blues" but did suggest "My Way" to the club as it was one of Sir Bobby Robson's favourites. Club said the song is too slow so wouldn't fit into their plans. Can understand that but everyone knows the words and we could all belt it out for sure!

Anyway, the samba band would be good, could get the cheerleaders back or play a 10-15 mins compilation of great songs before kick off.

At Arsenal they have a mascot called Gunnersaures which is a T Rex in an Arsnal shirt with a gun...and it shoots out a free tee shirt into the stands...now that is quality even if the tee shirt is cheap its quality as all the kids go crazy for gunnersaures but I got to say I loved Crazy horse stance at the tunnel entrance as the teams came out...

went to the millwall game last saturday and here are my views on the subject
!)decoration in the sir bobby lower seemed a bit sterile. (i mean where we have to drink and get our pies from)seems a bit of a nit picking thing, but i walked in after a long absence at portman road and it just seemed to be heartless and souless. maybe it wouldnt hurt to give some fans a paintbrush and a few awe inspring pics (wrights pentlty save at wembly, former captains etc)
2)atmosphere (although end of season) seemed really off. a few pockets of fans here and there trying to make noise but nothing really catching on. saw a point ealier about accoustic retension, maybe lok in to that and get the north stand rattling again?
3) ticket prices, although cheap on that day seem a bit exsessive for what we have essentially become, a relgation battling mid table finsh team. lower the ticket prices to get bums on seats and get rid of this "give us your money and f**k off" atmosphere that i felt as i walked in (the money you lose on the gate will go straight back and more with merch) and will make for a better atmosphere
4)smoking area. great if your by the practice pitch, not so great for the rest of the ground. is it really so hard to open one door, fence it off with a couple of stewards to police it? c'mon they do it at reading after all...
5)(and im sorry to say this) my ipswich seems to be all about money, charging people of a provincal town premiership/major city prices for a (mid)championship/provincal product. i felt wholely ripped off (not least by the result but thats by the by) as everyone from the pre match mc to the ball boy (inc the players) seemed distant and not up for it
6)entertainment. music was all wrong, seemed to be a "whats popular now, oh i dont know just bang on now whatever number we're on and crack on. sort the music out and maybe somthing actually entertaining at half time like some dancers or even a band to whip up a bit of energy
in summerising, i felt from ins and outs that i was being sqeezed for ever penny, which is gonna put a lot of people on edge and more closed off. feel we have lost our identity and have been over charging for an inferior product. address the above and the atmosphere may actually return. oh and p.s
7) please marcus come out and say who you are. i understand you like your privavcy but you are now owner of a public high level (ish) company in some sort of spotlight. fans are important in reaching the prem (nowrich are a prime example) and it would give us all a lift

A ban on singing and chanting. Or is that already in place?

A few ideas... (in no particular order)

1) A t-shirt gun lunching t-shirts into the stands at half-time
http://tshirtgun.com/

2) Illuminate the outside of the stadium with blue lights
http://www.smartcoolpicture.com/amazing-sport-stadiums-photo-at-night/

3) Big screen showing goals from current and past games

4) Open the practise pitch to the SBR stand

5) Beer in better cups and more people serving

6) Singing competitions before the game from each of the four stands

7) Pictures of Town heroes in the SBR stand bar or all around the ground

8) Cheaper tickets

Got to agree with a lot of the suggestions and as for the idea about a song before the game which all fans can sing how about the Edward ebenezer Jeremiah brown song? I've heard that sung by around 100 people and it really made the hairs on the back of my neck stand up! The lyrics could be shown on screen so ppl can learn it! Atmosphere changer me thinks

Entertaining 'up for it' football starts the noise level moving upwards.Agree with moving away fans

Casanovacrow great idea for half time fans' comments

Bring reserve matches back to PR during the week with cheap entry ...I used to enjoy getting a peep at some of the fringe players...and the football has a freeflowing quality

have a marching brass band at half time......give them a donation ...surely would not cost much

get rid of naff competitions at half time I would rather see fringe players work through some training routines or tricks

hate the tedious list of sponsors names which are read out

lose the chas and dave style singin' the blues....it's embarassing

play rousing ,tub-thumping battle music pre-match

to all those ridiculing the megaphone man outside the ground...lay off him...he may not have the voice of an angel but he has bottle, imagination and passion for our club...I would rather see him than a poxy fastest shot competition

Quiditch, you think you're adding humour to what has otherwise very lively and important discussion. Actually, you're just a prat. Get back to "reading" your pathetic lads mags.

find a popular hit song and play it before kick off and get rid of the amateur rubbish we currently use

The Club needs a popular anthem - listen to the Chelsea or West Ham fans singing as they kick off. Very loud and probably a little intimidating too - adds a bit of bite and stokes the home fans up ready for a match.

Cheaper tickets gets bums on seats.
More bums on seats equals more noise, simple as.

Better music, properly thought out ahead of the game. Builds towards kick off. The chiming bell as the players come out. Hairs stand up on the back of the neck. Everything to play for. Awesome.

Yes I am now dreaming. Portman Road must be such a nice place for away fans to visit. It's like a morgue in there. They can dominate the singing and stand a chance of a result too...

It's pretty ironic for the home fans to be bored before the match even starts!!

We need to bring away fans next to north stand, we need to get everyone together instead of having huge empty gaps. A drum in the corner would be good and let's have something to get the crowd going up to kick off.
