Town Linked With Move for Leicester's Gallagher
Town Linked With Move for Leicester's Gallagher
Sunday, 6th May 2012 15:15

Town are reported to have made a £750,000 bid to Leicester for striker or winger Paul Gallagher. The 27-year-old impressed as a second-half sub in the Foxes’ recent 2-1 victory over the Blues at Portman Road.

Gallagher was born in Glasgow but brought up in Blackburn and joined his local club as a youngster. While with Rovers he spent time on loan at Stoke (twice), Preston and Plymouth before joining Leicester for an undisclosed fee in the summer of 2009. He is contracted until the summer of 2015.

Capped once by Scotland at full level, Gallagher, who is 6ft tall, has made 99 starts and 30 sub appearances since joining the Foxes and has scored 28 goals.

Gallagher’s wife Hayley recently gave birth to premature twins, one of whom, son Luca, died, while daughter Ava remains in intensive care.

Meanwhile, Newcastle United have unveiled their statue of Sir Bobby Robson at St James’ Park.

Please no. Journeyman at best and so what if he played well against us recently.

He's scored more goals than the much more expensive Murphy.

Probably a good and cheaper replacement for the expensive Murphy but at £750K too expensive, would rather pay less than £500K tbh!

Excited by this one. Quality player proven at this level. Would fit it in well on the left of a front three. Has a very good right foot, we'd be sorted for freekicks and penalties. SIGN HIM UP CLEGG!

This guy has a good goal return for somebody who has predominantly been used as a winger in his career. Versatile and gives us options, I don't buy into some people's ideas that we don't need to invest in attacking options, we have 2 out-and-out strikers in Chopra and Scotland (I don't include Ellington whats the point) and Murray clearly isn't of a championship standard at this time in his career. Strength in depth and competition, good age and decent return at a decent price, here's to him signing up.

Why? Rather spend the money on a 20 goal a season striker!

No thanks. Another journeyman who has achieved nothin at the age of 27. Waste of time, waste of money, waste of my reading. BORING

Linked!! I've been linked with winning the lottery only because I bought a ticket! I'm just waiting for a 'signed' press release.

fair enough 8 goals in 18 games n 10 sub appearances this season but his career average isnt impressive at all. We'll need some physical presence next season from somewhere as we are loosing Murph, Gallagher wont give you that

Not a bad shout at all, The sort of player we need. 6 foot tall has a goals in him, Is the sort of player that would work hard for the team, can play either down the middle or in the vacant wide left slot. Good to see were looking to do business at this early stage.

Is he a winger? Not sure. I thought he was more of a central player, though not quite a Leadbitter replacement.

Classy player without doubt, changed the game at our place.

Though are Leicester going to sell at that price? Probably not. And is he going to fancy a move considering his personal life at present?

Can't see it happening.

Really good championship player. Very pleased we are linked or have made a bid, but we will get laughed at offering Leicester £750,000 for him it's not enough I doubt.
