Town Wembley hero Richard Naylor has been appointed to a role with his hometown club Leeds United, where he played for two and a half years after leaving Town in January 2009. The striker-turned-defender has decided to hang up his boots having left Rotherham towards the end of last season.

The 35-year-old will be working alongside the Whites’ U18s boss Neil Redfearn at the Yorkshire club’s academy.

Naylor made 261 Town starts, a club record 118 sub appearances and scored 42 goals - the most famous the second in the 4-2 1999/00 play-off final victory over Barnsley - between 1996 and 2009, having come through the Blues' youth system.

Bam Bam, Stewart, Reuser & Mogga all great, but the importance of the delivery from Jamie Clapham's crosses to that team shouldn't be forgotten. Similarly Cresswell set up a number of goals last season with excellent balls into the box, that's why we still need a good in the air type centre forward, to be added to the squad, who will take advantage of that quality. Maybe Davies could be that player, although I had hoped Madine would be the man prior to Wednesday getting promoted.

Peters is our longest serving player, isn't he? 7 years and 99 league appearances. Smith must be second, 5 years and 64 league appearances. It goes to show what a turnover we have had.
