Birmingham City are reported to be in talks with former Dundee United midfielder Scott Robertson, who was linked with the Blues earlier in the summer. The 27-year-old free agent is said to be training with Lee Clark’s squad.

The Midlanders are also claimed to be close to signing former Town man Darren Ambrose, who has a year left on his Crystal Palace deal, with some reports claiming he could move for as little as £250,000.

PauloJulio added 14:54 - Jul 13 Ambrose had one good season at Palace and scored lots of goals and it seemed like he was back to the form that made Newcastle pay £1m for him but he didn't sustain it. I believe Jim Magilton signed him on loan when he was in charge at Town and he wasn't a patch of the player he was at Town before. They say you should never go back but i agree for £250k its worth a punt!

Shame he never quite lived up to the expectations. Still got great delivery on him and a steal at £250k! Bring him home

Ambrose would be ideal to fill one of 3-4 positions. Ideal guy to have in a small squad such as ours .. but no point torturing ourselves with that possibility as it isnt even us linked with him lol
