Robertson Birmingham Talks Claim
Robertson Birmingham Talks Claim
Friday, 13th Jul 2012 13:37

Birmingham City are reported to be in talks with former Dundee United midfielder Scott Robertson, who was linked with the Blues earlier in the summer. The 27-year-old free agent is said to be training with Lee Clark’s squad.

The Midlanders are also claimed to be close to signing former Town man Darren Ambrose, who has a year left on his Crystal Palace deal, with some reports claiming he could move for as little as £250,000.

250k for Ambrose is an absolute steal! We'd be foolish not to try and challenge Birmingham on that one!

Ambrose had one good season at Palace and scored lots of goals and it seemed like he was back to the form that made Newcastle pay £1m for him but he didn't sustain it. I believe Jim Magilton signed him on loan when he was in charge at Town and he wasn't a patch of the player he was at Town before. They say you should never go back but i agree for £250k its worth a punt!

Would love to have ambrose back. Remember fondly him and benty breaking into the team together. Ambrose at that stage looked the better player in my opinion. Shame he never quite lived up to the expectations. Still got great delivery on him and a steal at £250k! Bring him home

I'd take Ambrose back, but can you imagine us nipping in to secure his signature over Brum? Haha..not a chance, too much on the back foot for that..

I love that no-one really cares about the main Robertson story lol. Admittedly I didn't really perk up until I saw Ambrose for 250K! That is crazy. I would be surprised if some other teams didn't come in for him now.

I still remember seeing ambrose as a youngster, i think in an U19 match. He absolutely stole the show. Never really blossomed into a premiership player but i still think he is a quality player. Snap him up!

I hope we don't get Robertson - this is Ipswich Town and I don't want to see my team resort to trying to win ugly!

sorry Irish Tim,
not as cheap as we all thought, just been said locally that the deal is up to a million £ including potential add-ons, so it may cost us.

Mr BCFC, think you've got a decent player in Ambrose, wish him well with you. Just one thing though, try and keep it on the floor for him...

Robertson = snore, average Scottish league player. imho about league 2 standard from what I've seen of him. Birmingham are more than welcome to him.

Ambrose would be ideal to fill one of 3-4 positions. Ideal guy to have in a small squad such as ours .. but no point torturing ourselves with that possibility as it isnt even us linked with him lol

Ambrose is yet another ex-player. Time to move forward and for PJ to build his own squad - 18 months of mainly has beens so far - with little building. Time to plan ahead. No thanks to Ambrose. Time to move on.
