Bullard
Bullard "Out of Equation"
Monday, 6th Aug 2012 12:26

Midfielder Jimmy Bullard was left out of the squad for Saturday’s home friendly against his former club West Ham as he is “out of the equation”, according to assistant manager Chris Hutchings. Reports on Sunday claimed the Blues were looking to offload the 33-year-old, who failed to make a first team appearance during two years at Upton Park at the start of his career.

Bullard, who has a year remaining on his contract, was spotted at Portman Road before the game but wasn’t included in the 21-man squad with Hutchings explaining afterwards: “He’s just out of the equation at this moment in time.”

Asked whether there was anything more to it with rumours regarding Bullard’s exit, including claims of a possible switch to China, having been circulating over the summer, the assistant manager added: “There’s always rumours about everything, about players that we’re linked with and so on.”

Bullard's last league start for Town came last November in the 4-0 defeat to Burnley at Turf Moor.

I've been saying all along in the recent months: GET RID OF THIS USELESS PEST !!! Neverending issues with him, very bad influence on the rest of the team.

Some fans have taken his comments seriously, comments from last March/April : ' I'm not happy when I'm not playing blah blah blah, I just want to prove myself blah blah blah, football is my joy blah blah blah ' ..... Some of those fans even reverted to singing that hopeless song when we were playing Doncaster on the last day of last season: 'Oh Jimmy Bullard .... ' . I'm asking what he has done to get that 'support' from some Town fans? They may tell me that some encouraging songs are not going to be harmful. So keep singing that ha ha ha ha... while he keeps taking piss out of Ipswich Town.

Lee Bowyer was hated by some people from day one as he had done something wrong as callow. Ha ha what a hystery it was when he signed for us. Jimmy Bullard keeps taking piss out of our club. I know who I'd rather see in the Town shirt. However I bet some of the people will keep singing ' oh Jimmy Bullard.....'

All of us were so happy when signed for us but no-one could have anticipated what disruptive effect he'd have on our club.

I'll be more than happy if I don't see him in the Town shirt anymore.

I've got mates who saw him out in Brentwood a few times last season on Saturday nights looking like he enjoys his drink and quite possibly other things. don't like to speculate but this happening around the same time he had a lot of time off being ill it made me wonder if there was more to it with him than we all know. I hope not and I hope this story is made out to be worse than it is because when he wants to he can be the best player on the pitch, I just hope he wants it

Great character, but afraid he has too much baggage to come with it. Get rid now, 33 years old always injured and seems to have a bad influence on the squad, we don't need a player like that.

Proof if it were ever needed that fans rarely get it right. Lets leave it to the professionals from now on shall we!

I think it is fair to say Jimmy will not be here next year after his contract expires so he will be off the books before FFP rules kick in from a mandatory perspective. The signing of Loungo and his performances as a young playmaker to date suggests that Jimmy contribution is potentially going to be very limited if he remains on the books unless we get a few injuries.

Jimmy is the sort of player who will try and give his all on the pitch and always wants to be involved in play whether he is playing well or poorly. Yes he struggled with form last year. Yes he has baggage but I think everybody really knew that.

Lets now take the scenario of him being on perhaps 15k a week that has been mentioned (maybe more) which would take his 2 year contract to Town to a cost of approx 780k a year. Is this really anymore than the per annum cost for say Lee Martin, Grant Leadbitter, David Norris or Carlos Edwards when you add their transfer fees to their salaries (and lets say they were on half of Jimmy's wages if not a lot more?).

I am just trying to put this in context against what's gone on before, lets just assume Jimmy was still doing the business for Town and then gets an injury (as could any player) that could keep him out for months (how much did Civelli cost us per match?) so I think it a little unfair to treat him like he is holding the club to ransom and costing us a kings fortune when compared to other players we have at the club. Let's just quietly let the club sort this out and if he moves on wish him well and thank him for the good moments and sadly accept we didn't in the end get the best of value from him. Yes FFP means we have to look at every penny hence why we feel the need to perhaps off load him if we now think we have adequate cover in this area that fits in with the more long term perspective and reduced cost model.

When Jimmy does pack up Footie, he'll make one hell of a golfer, have played with him and he plays of scratch + he can earn a few bob playing top class golf competitions, and of course he likes a bit of fishing.

i keep seeing "he was out of form last year" and he only played well in his loan spell to get a contract.
Firstly he had two years left on his hull contract at 40k a week.why wud he need to impress us to get a move and reduce his wage to 15k a week?
2ndly he was poor last year cus he was playedbout of position.he needs to play with freedom in the middle of the park, not just infront of the back four mopping up opposition attacks.it was poor management, no wonder he went on the p**s when he got dropped.he knew he was miles better than leadboots and pensioner bowyer.best midfielder in the championship and we wasted his talent!

thebeat if he's the best midfielder in the league I'm a dressage showhorse!

Played out of position, he was awful plain and simple although admitadely so were a lot of other players.

And theres no excuse for a senior pro, whos the highest paid player at the club, going out on the p*ss!

He's let himself, pj (who took a punt on him when he was desperate to get away from hull) the club and fans down and its a real shame as love him for his character and think he was a good player but at 33, its time to move him on.
