Academy first-year scholar Cory Galvin has been named in the Republic of Ireland U17 squad for two friendlies against Azerbaijan at Milebush Park in Castlebar later this month. Striker Galvin joined the Blues’ youth set-up full-time this summer.

The matches, which will be played on Tuesday 28th August and Thursday 30th August, are in preparation for Ireland’s European qualifiers in Macedonia next month where they will take on Sweden and Romania as well as the hosts.

Meanwhile, Irish striker Carel Tiofack, who was released by the Blues at the end of his scholarship in May, has joined Spanish lower league club CF Federico Mayo as part of an arrangement with the NextStars academy which has seen several players also previously with UK clubs' youth set-ups move to the Jerez-based side.
