top bloke, remember meeting him on my first visit to Ipswich as an 8 year old with my grandad circa 1975, we were waiting on the platform at the train station to come home and he was waiting for the same train, how times have changed

We had DJ as our guest speaker last year. He has some great stories about Sir Bobby Robson and Bob Paisley, and he also describes at length the famous match against Lazio where he picked up the worst injury of his career. It was very uncomfortable listening but also very funny. Trust me, it will be a good evening.

There is no doubt that the 1970's David Johnson was the best one. He played all his games at the top level, and also capped by England. If I remember correctly, fans were't happy when we got rid of Rod Belfitt and signed the young DJ from Everton. Another bit of genius from Bobby Robson

Was once at a St. George's Night dinner overseas where he was a guest of honour and introdced himself as "Liverpool, Everton and England".

Happily he was very embarrassed when he found out there were three Ipswich fans in the audience - probably more than both Liverpool and Everton - and stood us a round of drinks.

For some reason he reminds me in that picture of Sixto Peralta.

Saw him play many times for Town, great goal return for us and in particular for England, can't believe he didn't win more caps.....A true Town Legend.

Playing up front with Whymark they were one of the most complementary strikeforces to have graced Portman Road - Whymark was the best header of the ball I've ever seen and Johnson was as quick as lightning to get on to his deft flicks. TWTD!

It would be interesting to ask him what he got up to at Alan Whittle's 21st birthday party.

Good player in the air and on the deck, easily the better of the two DJ's, you didn't go on to play in a truly brilliant Liverpool team of the later 70's without being 'good'!!
