Campbell's QPR Career May Not Be Over
Thursday, 11th Oct 2012 15:40

QPR boss Mark Hughes says Blues loanee DJ Campbell could still have a future at Loftus Road. Campbell, who joined Town for three months last week, has made only three starts and nine sub appearances since joining the Premier League side just over a year ago from Blackpool for a fee of £1.2 million.

The West Londoners recently lost Andy Johnson to a long-term injury and Hughes told the Fulham Chronicle that Campbell could come back into his thoughts after his spell with the Blues: “We're looking at all our options.

"Obviously DJ's not played for us but circumstances change very quickly in football and fortunes of players and clubs change very quickly. DJ needs to go and get some games, but you never say never in this game.”

Campbell, who said he didn’t know whether his move might become a longer term switch after joining the Blues last Friday, is out of contract at the end of the season.

The 30-year-old netted on his Town debut, Saturday's 2-1 loss to Cardiff, although TV evidence showed the ball had struck his hand.

More than capable at this level and at 30 not over the hill.
With the right man in the hotseat, would be good to sign on a permanent, not silly wages though.

Basically, if he plays crap we can have him but if he hits form then QPR will keep him.

Always best to include an option to buy clause before agreeing to the loan but I'm guessing it wasn't possible.

This is what happens when half the squad are on loan, everything is up in the air.

Typical !!!! We will get him fit for you Mark ? You obviously watched him on Sky and saw some potential there !!!!! and it willl be just the time he might be able to benefit us more !!!!! I am almost sure he will hit form in this division with us !! but that is what you have to expect with Loanees

No point reading anything into this - nothing has changed. If you ask a manager whether one of their out-on-loan players has any future at the club, you usually get the same old 'we'll keep our options open' fluff.

Still reserving judgement on whether we should endeavour to keep DJ - he looked as isolated as Chopra often does against Cardiff last week, but I think we need to try him in a different formation with more support before we can tell how effective he can be for us.

Does anyone know if QPR can recall DJ before the end of the three months?

Hughes could be gone before the loan is up.

I just dont think we have a cat in hells chance of keeping the boy, especially on a QPR wage!

But then again I didnt think we would get him in on loan so never say never in football I spose.

For heavens sakes guys, you're like a flock of turkeys!
Mark Hughes is doing his job talking up DJs price and/or confidence in case of need. DJ is his player (for now). Personally I doubt he will become ours because of the wages, but every fart heard in the proximity of PR is becoming an imminent sign of an earthquake to you blokes.
Calm down. Relax a bit. We are in a crisis, but calm heads are needed.

I think it's down to tactics. Anyone is going to have problems scoring if he's not supported when we are attacking. We played well against Cardiff, but we didn't get enough men forward at the critical moments. If that means laying us open to counter attacks a bit more, then so be it. With Wellens, Hyam, and N'Daw in the squad, we ought to have some resistance to that. Does anyone else think we're so scared to lose, we don't push on enough when we've got the upper hand? Maybe I'm wrong, 'cos I don't get to see all the matches first hand....

Usual twaddle trotted out when a club sends a player out on loan. It's all about trying to maintain his market value.

Hopefully we send him back as soon as Taylor is fit again. Not worth the money or the hype that goes with him. JEWELL OUT!!!

Perhaps QPR are developing a volley ball team?

Depends on whether our new manager wants to sign him permanently!

He's worthless. He's an 8-10 goals a season scorer and a bench warmer at best. Unfortunately we can do with a striker who can only score 8-10 goals in a season.
