Alun Armstrong could be back to face his former club Middlesbrough next Sunday. The virus-struck 26-year-old played 45 minutes of a behind-closed-doors game yesterday and George Burley is pleased with his progress.

The Town boss said: "Alun has been feeling better the last two or three days and played 45 minutes in a practice game yesterday. The Inter Milan game on Thursday may come too soon but certainly we would like to include him for the Middlesbrough game, which I'm sure he will be fit for."

Last season Armstrong scored two goals as Town beat his former side 2-1. He also received a rapturous reception from his old fans, many of whom felt he was hardly given a chance at the Riverside.
