Town Have Most Expensive Ticket in Football League

Town have the most expensive matchday ticket in the Football League, according to a BBC survey released this morning. The highest-priced seat in the Cobbold or East of England Co-operative Stand at a Grade A match costs £42.50.

The survey says the cheapest place to watch football at Championship level is Huddersfield United with their lowest-priced seat £10 compared with Town’s at £22.50. That price is for a Grade C ticket bought on the day, although, according to the Town website, the same ticket is available for £20 if purchased in advance of the match.

In terms of season tickets, according to the survey, Town have the second-highest-priced ticket at £745 with a seat costing £752 at Leeds the most expensive. However, the Town website advertises season tickets in "Premium seats" at £1,061, £816 and £894, although in previous surveys of this type the club has stated that these tickets are aimed at the corporate market.

At the other end of the scale, a season ticket for the lower Sir Bobby Robson or Sir Alf Ramsey Stands is £390, the sixth highest-priced cheapest season ticket at a Championship club.

In TWTD's annual survey, 83.22% of the 1872 respondents thought that last year's matchday prices were either "A complete rip-off" (20.67%) or "Expensive" (62.55%), this year's prices not having been announced when the survey was carried out.

As for this year's season ticket prices, our survey found that 60.58% believed they were either "A complete rip-off" (9.4%) or "Expensive" (51.18%).

The BBC says ticket prices across the board have risen by 11.7% in the last 12 months, well above the rate of inflation.

Prices are way too high at PR and the evidence is easy to see at every home game.

A more than half empty stadium watching a poor quality product. Yes if we were more successful we would have higher gates but that alone would not fill the stadium.

Someone should tell Evans and Clegg there is a recession on and normal people are finding it tough!

carlisleaway. dont think the football we are playing , in general has been that bad. just jave an inability to score or defend. think you are out of order if you think the players are not giving 100%. that certainly isnt the problem at the moment. the 2 points ivr made already & a manager with no tactical nous when iy comes to changing things are the biggest problem we have. blaming clegg for whats happening on the pitch is ridiculous. unless hes suddenly become a member of the coaching staff that is.we havent got 0 players on loan btw, reo coker is our player, albeit only for a preliminary 3 month period. but why you think evn having 8 loanees makes us a laughing stock is beyond me. not saying its a great thing as would much rather have our own players but fact is we had to do something before jan to get ourselves out of trouble so loanees was the only way we coiuld strenghthenthe squad. we just have to hope it works. certainly from what ive seen of the loanees we hve got they have all added something to the team. just need every1 to get behind the team now, & show a united front, fans/players alike. if not i dread to think what may happen.

regencyblue. of course, youre right its not just performances that stopping people going to pr. however the fact that there are people not going for that reason i just think is wrong. if we were to be relegates this season you can bet your bottom dollar that we will lose fans for next season. of course we will i hear you say. but thing is, why should we? norwich didnt. in fact they gained fans the season they were in league 1. man city didnt lose fans. so what does that say about our fans?(not all of them of course) . and that will have nothing whatsoever to do with prices. too many fickle fans at this club. ive been there in the sbr days, so ssen the best, so seeing what i am now is harder that for those who werent about in those days, but i would never stop going just because things going badly.

Sometimes i think 'christ that was a waste of money,' like after the Blackburn and Charlton games I felt like that, but when Monday comes around I start feeling positive again and I am looking forward to the next home game so I can see my team perform, however bad they are playing. I suppose it's called being a football team supporter, as opposed to an armchair fan.

Further proof of the greed of ME and Co. - very little entertainment for a lot of money!

timmy h/ what a daft comment. how is me supposed to know what the entertainment is going to be like when he sets the prices prior to the season starting?

Well supporters ARE getting little value for money, my comment was made as 2 statements not related to each other, but prior to the season starting I'm sure they (ME) Knew the pricing was fairly expensive compared to a majority of the other clubs (as shown by the polls).

blues1 - give it a rest please - you prove you have nothing other than ITFC to focus your life's interest on.

Thankfully some of us have a bit more desire, ambition and expectancy.

oh dear. mr negative himself is on her. h32. sould have known youd be about on a story like this// hry. i have plenty in my life, but this website is about itfc. thus my comments are about itfc. and hey, i very much want this club to succeed. but for so called fans like you nothing they do is good enough. im just a bit more circumspect when it comes to criticising the club. in other words will only criticise when its due. unlike you. and yes. i do criticise the club over this, which you would have seen if youd read my posts properly.but then you never read anything on here properly as you too eager to slag some1 off. on this occasion im obviously the target of your crass assessment of me. another so called fan who i guess is not going to support the team because things going badly. & dont say it because of the price of tickets. because if we were top of the table youd be there like all the other fickle fans that follow this club.us true fans will be there regardless, because thats what you do. all id say is should we in the future get to the premier, dont complain if you cant get in, you would have if youd been there during the bad times we having at the moment.

Yes, prices are too high at Portman Road, but the headline is very misleading. No-one is forced to pay Town's top matchday price - there are loads of seats available at the cheapest price, and our cheapest price (esp for advance sales) is nowhere near the highest. So the cost of football at Town is actually lower than many other clubs in our league.
It is therefore GOOD NEWS that we also have very expensive tickets available - as that clearly subsidises those who prefer to pay less.
Still, never let the facts get in the way of a good moan, eh?
