Town Confirm Orr Loan
Wednesday, 14th Nov 2012 09:58

Town have confirmed that Blackburn right-back Bradley Orr has joined on loan until January 26th. News of the 30-year-old's move to the Blues broke last night.

Orr has been left on the bench since Henning Berg took over as manager at Ewood Park.

He started his career with Newcastle, during which time he was linked with the Blues, spending a period on loan at Burnley while with the Magpies. In 2004 the 6ft-tall full-back joined Bristol City and he was to spend the next six years at Ashton Gate.

In July 2010 he moved on to QPR where he helped Neil Warnock’s side to the Championship title. Having featured only fleetingly after their promotion to the Premier League, the Liverpudlian joined Blackburn in January 2012.

Orr will be best remember by Town fans for being sent off in the Blues’ 6-0 victory over Bristol City in November 2007.

A move for a right-back is no surprise with Blues manager Mick McCarthy having said he prefers to see skipper Carlos Edwards in midfield.

Great signing very astute ..... Lets hope we can sort a permanent right back, even if Hewitt is the future

One of Jeff Stelling's best ever lines featured our Bradley..

'When the Venky's came into own Blackburn they promised superstar signing's like Ronaldinhio or Beckham....and true to their word they have signed one of them....Bradley Orr'

Will be a good signing but strange as Hewitt is on the road to recovery.

This manager keeps quiet about signings until they happen. We don't need to hear about the numerous failed attempts like Jewell spouted every week.
A very good signing. Strong, hard working, comfortable on the ball and done it all before

We've signed a right back after all this time of the fans screaming for one. How utterly inept was Jewell compared to MM ! !

Boooo Clegg out!! We never sign anyone. He always messes things up.

Oh.

It's strange, Paul Jewell would have been criticised for signing a 30yr old ! Hewitt to be loaned out to "get experience" next ?

You have to hand it MM. All these years of playing players out of position or switching them for some reason or other and in just 2 weeks MM has seen the problems that us fans having been moaning about and seems to have addressed most of the issues. Why can he do it and not the previous incumbents? Well done MM!

Great signing as gievs us loads of options

Chambers can now play centre back / right back
Edwards plays in his natural position
Hewitt on the road to recovery and one for the future
Orr is a solid right back offering immediate experience

Brilliant bit of timing as well.
Smith won't get back from international duty until Friday, so Orr can train with team mates and then go straight into team for Saturday and Chambers joins Higginbotham in centre without too much disruption. It's as if he is thinking ahead and acting accrodingly!!!!
Would like to see Lee Martin return for Wellens though. Balance of side better with both Edwards & Martin out wide.

TWTD has really let me down now! Just hours after announcing that Town are interested in a player they announce that he has signed!

Where's the excitement in that?

Where has the 'is it true' , 'is it false', 'will he', won't he' 'he's here for talks', 'he's gone away to think about it' stories gone? I used to enjoy being kept on tenderhooks for a few days.

Do you think Big Mick reads the TWTD threads or goes on Twitter? He seems to know exactly what is required and what we've been banging on about for months.

BIG MICK is watching you! :)

Orrrite get int there.. ok will get my coat. On a serious note I would like to know if this could become a permanent move as he does seem to be the player we need, but saying that hopefully by January Hewitt should be match fit and could then take over.

The other thing I would love to know but I guess the last two days gives a pointer Micks now been here 2 weeks and he said he would report back to Marcus within two weeks. What was his report to Marcus!! I am guessing some thing like...

Dear Santa
Carlos must never be allowed anywhere near the right back position and we need fullbacks. I have been very good this year especially taking on such charitable works such as managing and turning round the moaning fans at Ipswich please can I have a Right Back and a full back and if I can have them before the 25th of Dec that would be great

Proven top 2 championship defender with bags of experience signed by a proven championship promotion winning manager! Cant be bad.
Ps.....i may be foolish but got 100/1 on town winning promotion this season so put a tenner on it two weeks back. 90 points to play for.

When I first heard MM mentioned as a candidate I wasn't too happy but I'm coming round big time now. I like the way the man works and he's doing the obvious simple things that eluded previous managers. Two new full backs, push Cressy and Carlos forward where they love to be knowing that they both have enough experience of playing full back to drop back and cover when needed. Murphy, a striker, is now playing as a striker too. Good stuff Mick.
