Delight at Joining Town Makes Up for Blackburn Disappointment Friday, 16th Nov 2012 06:00 Bradley Orr’s delight at landing a loan move to Ipswich has overtaken his disappointment at surrendering his first team place at parent club Blackburn. Orr dropped down the pecking order under new boss Henning Berg and, not surprisingly, he did not agree that he should have been axed. He said: “When the new manager came in I think we were off the back of two wins, both with clean sheets, and we’d only lost twice in 10 league games. I felt I should have continued in my position in the first team. “But it wasn’t to be — that’s football — and I’m not one of these players who like to sit around and pick up my monthly wage. I like to be playing and mixing it on a Saturday, which is what the game and the job is all about. “When I look back after I’ve hung up my boots I want to see how many games I’ve played and what I’ve achieved in the game. “I didn’t just want to sit and be a number. When you’re not playing, without knowing it maybe you can make a negative impact on the place. I didn’t want that because I’ve got good friends within that dressing room and I wish everyone there well. “I wanted to get out of the way and go somewhere else, where I’d get a fair crack at it. Thankfully the gaffer and the staff here have shown their faith in me to do that.” Orr will remain at Portman Road until at least January 26th but he admitted he's already thinking beyond that: “We have spoken a little bit about extending the loan. But I’m not naïve, I know it depends on how well I do. “If I do well and help the team in any way then maybe the club will want to extend it, but if I don’t do well no doubt they’ll want to ship me back at the first opportunity. “I suppose it’s, not a trial, but a period for them to have a look at me and see if I bring something positive to the table. But it could be the opposite and if it doesn’t go well I don’t think they’ll hang around in sending me back. “I haven’t come here to throw the towel in if things aren’t going well. I’m here to do a job and if I’m doing that job well, I’m here to see it out. “I class myself as quite a loyal person. If in January the club want to keep me that would mean I was doing a decent enough job.”
