Campbell: Loanees Giving Their All for Town
Friday, 23rd Nov 2012 10:09

Ipswich’s loan signings are giving their all during their time at Portman Road, striker DJ Campbell has maintained.

Several supporters have been critical of Town’s policy of recruiting players on a temporary basis, with new boss Mick McCarthy taking this season’s loan tally to 10 with deals for Bradley Orr of Blackburn and Peterborough’s Tyrone Barnett.

Right-back Orr made his debut in last week’s 6-0 defeat at Leicester while powerfully-built striker Barnett is ineligible for tomorrow’s home clash with his parent club.

Campbell, the club’s top scorer with four goals in eight games since arriving from QPR, believes all the loan players are up for the fight to avoid relegation to League One.

He said: “We’ve come to a great club and we know how important it is for them to stay in this league. We know what it means to the fans and we should all be doing our very best for them.

“I can only speak for myself but I like to think I give my all in every game I play and I’m sure the rest of the lads are the same.”

Campbell knows Orr from their time together at Loftus Road and is confident he can recover from a tough baptism against the promotion-chasing Foxes.

He added: “Bradley’s a good guy and I’ve played with him enough times to know that. I’m not sure how much he has played this season but it was tough for him to come into the side against Leicester.

“He will only get better the more games he plays for us. The gaffer has brought him in for his experience because he’s been in and around this league for a number of years and he can help the young lads.

“We need to be gelling and pulling in the same direction if we are going to get out of the trouble that a club of this stature shouldn’t be in.”

Meanwhile, Campbell is pleased with his contribution to date and believes there is more to come before his loan deal expires in January.

He said: “I’m happy with how it has gone so far. Maybe I could have nicked a few more goals and played a little bit better, but I hadn’t played for such a long time when I came here.

“To join Ipswich and get games has been a breath of fresh air for me. The more games I play, the sharper I will get and, I should imagine, the more goals I will score.”

I think DJ , Orr , N Daw can add long term to the team - The rest I am pretty unsure - They will get us through next month but beyond that I am sure BIG MICK has other sights -
The next month is a very key time for the club , long term - A busy period - with some tough games at 'our end' of the table - if we are out of the bottom three by Dec 31st - I will be happy to build on that

Yes, lets hope they all 'give their all' like they did last Saturday.

Breaking News. Ipswich to sign Finnish super star SANTA dela CLUASE. On loan from the Jan 1st. We understand he has other commitments during December

I'm looking forward to the team that Big Mick builds in January, realistically the squad is good enough but not big enough to have competition for the starting eleven.

A squad with very few loans and sitting middle of the table by May would be ideal :)

We're never more than 11 players short of a top class team...

Alright Bobble - how about an 8th place finish and miss The Play Offs by one point .... just like ... erm.... Jim Magilton did.

The loan strategy is presumably to get wages and player costs down and not find ourselves over-committed at the end of the season anf to give a new manager no excuses for not recruiting his own players, which is fine. However, I want Cleggs kneck on the block come May if the club has underperformed on the pitch - and under performance is if we fail to get more points than last season and or we finish lower in the league - just so there is no doubt Clegg

Sadly I think Henderson IS giving his all ... it is just that he d=oes not have much to give. I'm not getting personal in my attack, but seeing him against Burnley he was more interested in dramatically signalling to the North Stand when a ball was going wide than he was in commanding his (HIS!!) box. He is not strong enough - is Peter Schmichael free? That is the sort of "boss" you need between the sticks.

Sorry Mr H - I did NOT mean to suggest or imply that you were the only one we need to improve on.

It think his name is Santa de Claus bluehearts. He is good though although some say he is too generous to the opposition at times and he has been particulalry vulnerable when the games come think and fast over the Christmas period. if what you say is true I am pleased we are getting him in at the start of the New Year. Let's face it they way we have been playing of late the whole team needs to pull their socks up. De Claus is versatile and should give us more depth to our play in and around the boxes. The Fins do produce some good players and Litmannen immediately springs to mind. He was a quality player and if Santa de Claus can be even a smidgen as good then Christmas has come early this year!

Some may give their all;but that isn't good enough as they aren't Championship standard. We have persisted too long with Murphy so dont rate him or Henderson. After last game jury's out on Orr together with Mohsni who hasn't had enough game time to make a judgement ;and Tyrone Barnett who has yet to play.
Looks like MM has decided already about 'The Duke' whos contract is up at the end of season;but Nigel Reo-Coker has yet to prove to me that he is good enough or wants to stay.
Afraid if DJ doesnt go back to QPR especially if ''Our Arry' takes over(my first choice for ITFC ) then Olly would be favorite to land him due to past association and location, not forgetting league positions.
Oh how the mighty have fallen since ME took over!?

Hendersons dedication has been remarkable in my opinion, there are not many loan keepers around who would volunteer to pick the ball up out of the net six times in one game......he must be a doubt for Saturday match, put his back out!

Sign this man up immediately on a permanent basis. I like the cut of his jib.

Trouble is with such a high turnover of players, they never have time to gel. It probably takes a couple of months for a player to get up to speed, then they're off and replaced my more loan players, and the same problems again

LordMamu - it appears that you are bringing a touch of class to TWTD. I have not heard someone say 'cut of his jib' for a long time and I cannot recall it ever being mentioned on TWD, for that Sir I commend you.

Really? so far Henderson and Reo-Coker have done relatively little and Murphy has not really performed as expected compared to last season, perhaps they are not good enough or find the Championship to physically demanding.
