McCarthy: Decent Draw But More Pressing Matters
Saturday, 8th Dec 2012 06:01

Blues boss Mick McCarthy said his initial reaction to Town’s drawing Aston Villa away in the third round of the FA Cup was that it was a “decent draw” but he quickly turned his focus back to more immediate matters. The Blues go to Villa Park on Saturday 5th January with tickets at reduced prices.

McCarthy said: “It’s a good test. My honest assessment of that was that I wasn’t bothered. We’ve got Millwall, then we’ve got Leeds next week. It’s not even scratched the surface of my thinking.

“I saw it, I thought ‘That’s a decent draw for us, we’ll go up there and play Villa, that’ll be all right’, but then after that I’ve not really thought about it. We’ve got really important league fixtures prior to that.

“When it comes round I’ll look forward to a break from the league and look forward to the FA Cup.”
