Cresswell Now Happier Watching TV
Saturday, 8th Dec 2012 06:02

Aaron Cresswell no longer has any reservations about switching on his television to catch up with the latest football news.

Nowadays, if he happens to come across the Championship table, it makes for far better reading than in weeks gone by.

The massive improvement in form under new boss Mick McCarthy has seen Town take 13 points from a possible 21, a run that has not only lifted them off the bottom of the league but also carried them five points clear of the relegation zone.

Left-back Cresswell, 22, even admits it was difficult not to think about the possibility of relegation as results deteriorated to the extent that manager Paul Jewell parted company with the club towards the end of October.

He said: “It’s always in the back of your mind when you look at the table. You switch on Sky Sports and when you see you’re in the bottom three it’s not a nice feeling.

“It’s not nice for any team being down in the bottom three. When you’re down there no one’s got any confidence, no one likes coming into work or picking the papers up. It’s nice to get out of the bottom three as early as you can.

“You can ask anyone who’s down there at the bottom end of the table — Bristol City, Sheffield Wednesday or Peterborough. I bet if you went into any of their camps not one of the players would come out and say ‘All the lads are full of confidence going into each game’.

“It’s a natural thing and the same with any job. If nothing’s going well you are not going to be enjoying going into work and you won’t be full of confidence.

“We always had a good team spirit around the place but when you are going into games and you pick up the paper to see where you are in the table it can get you down.

“It’s different now that we are five points clear and it’s important that we carry on pushing up the table. There are still 26 games left and we have to carry on fighting each week then see where we are come the end of the season.”

There are definitely three worse teams in this league then us can't really see us going down this season as long as we keep on picking up good results and beating teams bellow us

It definitely feels good being out of the bottom 3 and a pat on the back to all for getting us out of there , let hope the regained confidance doesn't turn into complacentcy and we keep on working hard and fighting in every game .COYB!!!
