Right-back Jack Ainsley has spent time training with Preston North End in the last few days, although we understand that the League One club has opted against signing him and have loaned Paul Connolly from Leeds.

The 22-year-old, who is out of contract at the end of the season, made his only league start for the Blues against Huddersfield in August and other than that has made only two sub appearances, one in the Capital One Cup, this season.

Born in Felixstowe, Ainsley came through the ranks of the Town academy and made his senior debut in the 2009/10 season. He has also spent time on loan with Histon and Rushden and Diamonds.

If you had seen him against Felixtowe and Walton last week then you would have seen him get torn apart by a amateur local player. Sorry to say it especially as he's a local lad but not enough quality .

Seems a bit harsh to be dropped (twice) and then later shipped out without getting the chance to impress the new manager. P.S. If his mum and dad are reading this, (or Jack himself) get him down to Barnet, and join the Davids revolution. You know it makes sense :)
