Ainsley at Preston
Tuesday, 15th Jan 2013 17:03

Right-back Jack Ainsley has spent time training with Preston North End in the last few days, although we understand that the League One club has opted against signing him and have loaned Paul Connolly from Leeds.

The 22-year-old, who is out of contract at the end of the season, made his only league start for the Blues against Huddersfield in August and other than that has made only two sub appearances, one in the Capital One Cup, this season.

Born in Felixstowe, Ainsley came through the ranks of the Town academy and made his senior debut in the 2009/10 season. He has also spent time on loan with Histon and Rushden and Diamonds.

Best of luck Jack, hope you will succeed somewhere else. As a defender he always had an eye for goal, where he also could play upfront. Great lad aswell from what I've heard

I wish him well and hope he finds a club quickly beecause i dont think he has a future at Ipswich. If you had seen him against Felixtowe and Walton last week then you would have seen him get torn apart by a amateur local player.

Sorry to say it especially as he's a local lad but not enough quality .

Best of luck to him. Can't help feeling sad when "one of our own" goes. Been a while since we produced a real gem. Luke Hyam is the closest. Last was Connor Wickham for me. Hope the new regime can produce a bit more from our ranks.

He played well vs Huddersfield, thought he may get another chance. Strikes me as an honest hardworking pro and like any of our academy who doesnt quite cut the mustard here, I wish him well.

Are we becoming there feeder club, first Ellington, and now Ainsley? I'm afraid to say he was never going to become our No. 1 RB, with Orr and Hewitt, especially if we sign Orr on a permanent.

Check your facts Phil ,yes Jack has only started one league match but of his two sub appearances one of them was against Barnsley in the league and the other was against Carlisle in The Capital One cup.

Ainsley will end up in League 2/conference. Taken Mick a few months to do what should have happened 2/3 years ago.

Only surprise is it's taken Mick so long to ship him out.

Honest pro, doesn't equal good pro for this level i'm afraid.

Good luck to him, but he needs to play and guessing Preston have decided L1 is probably too high for him at the moment given Histon terminated his loan a few years back

"...made his only league start for the Blues against Huddersfield..."

Didn't he start in the P'boro 7-1 debacle (sorry to bring that up....)?

Played three times this season, been awarded Man of the Match three times (according to the fixture list on here). Seems a bit harsh to be dropped (twice) and then later shipped out without getting the chance to impress the new manager.

P.S. If his mum and dad are reading this, (or Jack himself) get him down to Barnet, and join the Davids revolution. You know it makes sense :)
