Blackburn Set to Recall Orr
Thursday, 17th Jan 2013 10:35

Blackburn Rovers will recall right-back Bradley Orr from Town at the end of his current spell on January 26th, according to reports in Lancashire. Rovers had previously agreed to extend the 30-year-old’s stay until the end of the season.

Since that agreement was made, Michael Appleton has taken over as manager at Ewood Park and the former Blackpool and Portsmouth boss is likely to want to assess the players currently at his new club.

Blackburn aren't able to recall the Liverpudlian from his current spell but he could go back to his parent club after the game against his former side Bristol City at Ashton Gate a week on Saturday.

If Orr does return, Blues boss Mick McCarthy could renew his interest in his former Wolves right-back Ronald Zubar, who was strongly linked with a move to Portman Road before Christmas.

However, the 27-year-old would appear to be part of new Molineux manager Dean Saunders’s plans, having started their 1-1 draw with Blackburn at the weekend. Wolves defender Richard Stearman - primarily a centre-half but also capable of playing at right-back - and striker Sylvan Ebanks-Blake also continue to be linked with the Blues.

Town are believed to be unwilling to pay the £1.8 million Wolves want for Stearman, while Ebanks-Blake seems a less likely target after the additions of David McGoldrick, Aaron Mclean and Frank Nouble.

Meanwhile, Town boss Mick McCarthy was at the League Managers' Association's European Managers and Coaches Forum at St George’s Park, Burton yesterday.

Give Hewitt his chance. He & Cresswell would mean we have 2 young, quick attacking full backs. We've got some cover as Chambers and Kisnorbo can both play there too. Don't think MM will play Carlos there again except in emergencies, because MM already said that it took him just one or two games in charge to realize that Carlos was not a full back.

Hmmm..if we were in mid table safety then i'd say play Hewitt for the remainder of the season but I think in our position we need experience....and not Carlos Edwards at RB either!!...maybe we'll step up our interest in Zubar of Wolves?

Orr has done very well, but does get exposed against pacey attacks down the left, as happened once or twice against Cardiff, but regularly against Leicester. Hewitt looked reasonable against Premiership opposition, so should be fine against Championship teams. It would be nice to have the experience against Barnsley and Bristol City though and try to secure the points against these lesser teams. However, I suspect the game may not go ahead on Saturday, so we may have to find an alternative.

I agree with quite a few of the above comments. Whilst Bradley Orr leaving would be disappointing as he has done a job for us, it (hopefully!) gives Hewitt a chance to seize a place and make it his own. Kisnorbo looks like a decent player, but if memory serves me rightly he is only here until the end of the month. Stearman might be a good replacement, but not for anything like £1.8 million. Of course we do have Jack Ainsley as well, but he is very raw. As someone else has said, this is the danger of relying on loaness; here today, gone tomorrow and block up the system for promoting our own youth.

Oh dear, i hate these loans. Not the players, but the loans. When people ask you how the Ipswich eleven looks like, you don't have a clue, cause there could be another bunch of loan players in the squad. To be honest, it's embarrasing.

In a few years time it'll be a real struggle to know just who had played for Ipswich given how many loans we have had.
Peoplel say we need experience at right-back given where we are in the league but how can Hewitt get experience (at this level) if he doesn't play? He needs whole matches to get used to what is expected at him not just the final few minutes.

I rate hewitt well and would love to see him get some game time, but what worrys me is his inexperience at this level. His time will come, but would love to see an experienced right back join us this month. And no, carlos edwards should not move back to right back.

Cresswell made the step up to the championship ok so can see no reason why hewitt should not do the same !!!!

As said earlier I would like to see Hewitt given a run but if we were going to bring a more experienced right back in then maybe Luke Young? seems surplus to requirements at Qpr,and we could do worse than bringing him in on loan

Disappointing as Orr has done well. Not spectacular, but very solid with much-needed experience at this level. MM will need to act fast to find a suitable replacement. Nothing against Hewitt, but we are still in a relegation battle, so not sure it's time for him just yet ....

this was orrways on the cards to happen. we have a habit of resurrecting the careers of other teams players, the sooner this stops the sooner we can start to show real progress and start pushing on .......Coyb
