Wordsworth Move Still On
Monday, 28th Jan 2013 12:17

Midfielder Anthony Wordsworth is still expected to complete his move from Colchester United to the Blues before the transfer window closes on Thursday. TWTD reported that the 24-year-old was set to become a Town player a fortnight ago.

There had seemed to be little progress on the deal in recent days but, according to the Colchester Gazette, the central midfielder, who is out of contract at the end of the season, is now talking personal terms regarding a £100,000 move to Portman Road.

Wordsworth joining the Blues would make a loan move for Arsenal’s Thomas Eisfeld less likely, particularly with Town already having three of the five domestic loanees permitted in a matchday squad and with manager Mick McCarthy having confirmed that he wants to add a right-back and a goalkeeper to his squad. West Ham’s Stephen Henderson may return to fill the latter role.

Elsewhere, Northampton Town have been linked with a loan move for Blues midfielder Josh Carson, who manager Mick McCarthy is keen to get out to play games.

Put him out left for lee Martin, perhaps he can score from 4 yards

Got to admit I am fairly excited about this move. Think he could be one of the players that could help keep us up this season and help us do well next season.

Just what we need.

Young, hungry, and creative.

Fingers crossed.

Like the sound of this. Good value if it's true. Agree to replace Lee Martin wide left with Wordsworth.

Please get this german kid in too, to play wide right to replace old-man Edwards. If it means we have too many loans, send back one of the other ones. Most likely McClean, as he's not on a view to a permanent signing, and he doesn't like living here anyway. Then I'd like to think we have a team there with proper balance, something we've been lacking.

“I wandered lonely as a cloud
That floats on high o'er vales and hills,
When all at once I saw a crowd,
A host, of golden Ipswich Fans;
Beside the lake, beneath the trees,
Fluttering and dancing in the breeze.

Continuous as the stars that shine
And twinkle on the milky way,
They stretched in never-ending line
Along the margin of a bay:
Ten thousand saw I at a glance,
Tossing their heads in sprightly dance.

The waves beside them danced; but they
Out-did the sparkling waves in glee:
A poet could not but be gay,
In such a jocund company:
I gazed--and gazed--but little thought
What wealth the show to me had brought:

For oft, when on my couch I lie
In vacant or in pensive mood,
They flash upon that inward eye
Which is the bliss of solitude;
And then my heart with pleasure fills,
And dances with the Ipswich Fans.”

-Wordsworths a genius. Sign him up.

Would be a great signing, adding some much needed dogged determination to our midfield...

@WhoisJimmyJuan and algarvefan

Cheers, have to credit William Wordsworths (Google him) poem, "Daffoldils" for the wording, but couldnt resist the wordplay with the Ipswich Fans part. A bit of culture for the forums on a Monday morning might raise the bar for the rest of the week.

I am glad to read this may be back on, but how come a £100K signing is taking so long when we desparately need the creativity in our midfield?! Sign him up!

Whoever comes in is not going to make an immediate difference, remember Rome wasn't built in a day we need to stay fully behind Mick and the players I'm sure he can turn this around keep us in the championship and have a much stronger team next season. I'm sure he is also telling ME to get his chequebook out and support him

This would be an excellent signing.

Maybe MM has been watching the pennies because Wordsworth has been suspended the last two weeks - who knows?

Many of us have been saying that we need creativity behind our strikers and Wordsworth could be a player to deliver that. And send over our corners that don't all land up on the defender's head!

I still think we need a GK who commands his area.

With Hull's deal for DJ having fallen through maybe we'll get him after all (and send McLean back to Bruce before he's called back). At DJ's age no club these days is going to sign him for three and a half years. (A goalkeeper, maybe!).
