Stearman Jumped at Chance to Work With Old Bosses
Tuesday, 29th Jan 2013 15:53

New loan signing Richard Stearman says the chance to work with manager Mick McCarthy and his assistant Terry Connor again was a significant factor in his decision to join the Blues. The 25-year-old will be at Portman Road for the rest of the season.

Speaking in an interview with Ipswich Player, Stearman said: “I have obviously worked under Mick and TC before and that was a big factor in me coming here.

“Once I knew I was wanted down here at Portman Road, I jumped at it. I know a few of the lads already, so it was nice to see a few familiar friendly faces this morning.

“I have not played as much football as I would have liked this season so the opportunity to come here and play games made it an easy decision.

“It’s frustrating when you work all week and then have to sit on the bench or in the stands on a Saturday afternoon.

“Footballers want to be out there playing and I’m no different. I’m looking forward to my time here and hopefully helping Ipswich get some points on the board.”

Meanwhile, Anthony Wordsworth’s switch from Colchester seems more likely to be completed tomorrow rather than today, the clubs having agreed a fee believed to be in the region of £100,000.

The 24-year-old midfielder, who we revealed would be joining Town a fortnight ago, is understood to have spent two days training with the Blues squad during the following week while the clubs negotiated a deal.

STOP MOANING! Wolves fans aren't going to say he's a good player, are they? they want to fool us Town fans into believing he's going to be a waste of space, and with some of you it has worked! In addition to this, Hewitt isn't yet good enough to start games for us! He was a regular at a side that got relegated from League 2. I'm certainly excited about him, and he has a huge future, but for now we need experienced players to preserve our safety! So, can some of you cheer up please?

All the best on your stay here Richard, only problem at the moment for him at the moment is the Chambers/Smith partnership is doing ok, it's other area's that need working on.

By the way, Seasider, it seems that Alexander is quite happy to pick up his wages and sit on the bench, and that this has been the case for some time, and he's recently signed a new contract to do more of the same, I do believe. Which is a shame and a waste of talent. Up to him I suppose.

Lonleyblue.... according to Sky Sports Alexander played Saturday, not sitting on the bench!

Lonly blue ... according to Google he has played 18 out of Ranger's 22 league games so far. I would say that makes him their number 1 keeper not a bench warmer.

Oh, what a cock I am! Last time I looked was obviously August then, when he was last discussed. How time flies! Apologies all round. But I'm pretty sure he did sign a new contract in the summer, so probably a no go. Mind you, someone might want to check that out, and he'll probably sign Thursday!

Welcome to ITFC Richard. Will give us much needed cover at full-back. Now for a creative midfielder or 2, Wordsworth fills the bill but the length of time that deal is taking does worry me somewhat. I just hope the club aren't being ridiculously stingy in their negotiations again as we dont want to have the same old problem of moves breaking down over wage demands yet again. Relegation will cost the club a lot more than a further years contract or an extra £1000 a week

See Barnsley and Bristol City are 2-0 up and Scotland has scored within 1 minute of his debut
We are now 4 points off safety and 6 off bottom spot

O dear

You couldnt write the damn script, Scotland couldnt hit a bulls *rse with a banjo and never chased anything not landed on his foot and now scores. Does seem a bit of a trend with players leaving and must indicate to a point the poor service getting to our strikers. DJ was the only one sharp enough to feed of things and 29 goals in 29 games says it all. February is going to be tough and critical, got to be looking for 9 points i reckon!!

Last time we got a good defender from Wolves it was Venus wasn't it. I hope Stearman is as good. Wolves laughed at us for getting Venus, we'll see.

Yep unbelievable that both Barnsley and Bristol C win tonight and against inform teams particularly Watford. Interesting to note both those teams have new managers, perhaps we should change our manager every other month and then we can reap the rewards of the managers 'honeymoon period' all the time! (only joking).
Almost back where we started at the beginning of the season.

We will be alright. Mick will see to it. But I'm glad we have all got our feet in the ground now. Just a week ago there were a lot of moans about transfers and, um, premiership - which I think missed the point a bit. I'm sick of saying this but - before MM we looked 100% like a relegation team. Actually like a bottom of the league by 12 points with six games to go team. Now we are a team that is hopeful of staying up. But there are no rubbish teams in this league. And if there are, we are quite capable of being just as rubbish for sustained periods. Let's temper our expectations. Let's not boo - NONE OF YOU BOO! - if we lost on Saturday and let's get behind the idea if picking up what we can, where we can for this season. If we stay put, then we will see. If the moaners are proved right by August 31st 2013, I will personally come round and polish all their shoes and cook them my finest ribeye steak. With chips. And some green stuff. PS obviously is like us to win worn great style and aplomb every week, but look at our players! They're ok, but they're not going to be silky all the time. It's not their fault. It's not MM's fault. It's not my fault. It might be Roy Keane's fault. But y'know. Let's stay collectively behind the idea of staying up. If we do that, we can see....

This is promising news for any Ipswich Fan!. He's at a good age, he's mentally strong and gets a few goals. Also likes running up the flank and creating a few. Hope we can make this one a permanent signing in the summer as £1.8 million is haggle! worth at least £900,000 to £1.2 million. Anthony Wordsworth could be a spark! Some say he's not good and lazy so we can be the judge of that come saturday. He could be the creative type we have been missing for some time.

Delaney was slated as useless then went to palace and succeeded so its all perception and conjecture in the fans minds. A move to Ipswich could be the breath of fresh air he needs. Until he
Plays how will we really know anything.
