Campbell Set for Blackburn
Thursday, 31st Jan 2013 17:50

Former Blues loan striker DJ Campbell is now set to join Blackburn Rovers. Town’s 10-goal top scorer had previously been in talks with Crystal Palace and Hull City but was unable to agree personal terms at either club.

QPR man Campbell, who is out of contract at the end of the season, has been spotted at Rovers' Brockhall training ground this evening and is currently undergoing a medical.

Why should we not be able to sign DJ? All we had to do was give him a longer contract than what we offered. The stupidness from ME and Clegg astonishes me sometimes. Send Scotland to our relegation rivals and watch the points he secures for them. Meanwhile count the number of points we lose by not speculating on DJ. Hopefully Mcarthy will be smart enough to keep us up. We need to see what happens now that the honeymoon period is definately over. The last 2 games will hopefully be a wake up call.

Agreed Mikeybloo88 - That's the Henderson, Ward and Pearce deals, recalling of Orr, Henderson again in this window (not that i'm bothered too much) and now Campbell...

Plus, he has Rhodes firing for him!

What a shame! A prolific goal scorer .We have to give our new players a chance I suppose and I just hope that we can get a much needed win on Saturday. Can't believe that Kieron Dyer is joining Middlesbrough ! Another story in the making! COYB !!!

Just a short trip from his family in London then!

I really wish players would just be honest and say they want to follow the money - I could respect that more than all the other rubbish they spout!

Agree with Jas 0999 Cheshire Blue Edmunds5 and Norwichbeater.Dont moan at Appleton as his money men are backing him whilst ours dont seem to grasp reality of the parlous situation this club is in.
Feel Mc Carthy wont take this penny pinching indefinitely.
We know ME is a rich man on paper;but capital assets do not necessarily equate to a positive cash flow,so perhaps his financial situation is not as sound as to enable the owner to splash the cash willy nilly.Only time will tell.

I cant understand why Blackburn fans hate the Venkys so much, atleast the Venkys give their managers some decent cash to sign decent players, Rhodes and campbell, we can only dream of signings like that, lets face it we aint got a pot to piss in and i think Mick now knows how tight Marcus evans is, if the ireland job comes up soon i think Mick will be gone and who could blame him, ive been watching ipswich for 25 years and i cant remember ever watching so many crap players as i am now

any one wonder how long MM may hang around if he does not have a fairly serious pot of money to wheel n deal with in the next 7 mths. persom=nally i dont think to long loans is not the way and buying were not that club any more il be watching closely, now is not the best time to splash the cash but when your where we are on an edge i think survival to the championship is all its about

Let's not think about if we go down, ME walking away from the club and MM following shortly after if we get relegated!!

Well lets hope we do go down and get rid of this garbage

I think some should look at how much money is actually being spent in the championship, not a lot. That is the reality and we are not alone.

And for someone to say about the venkeys, I know who I would rather have.

As people have said before, mm would not have joined the club without assurances about money to spend etc.

When things go well people have nothing to say but at the first sign of some adversity its easy to jump on the bandwagon.

Roll up our sleeves lads and support mm and the team.

As for dj, did well for us but let's not forget he turned down hull and palace cos of personal terms, agents!!

What is all this hysteria around the chairman, the manager and relegation based on a transfer from one loanee to another club!? Get a grip!

I'm not too fussed if Campbell has signed for that ramshackle club, completely confident in McGoldrick forming a partnership with some of our options.

Isn't Murphy's contract up at Celtic soon?

However much we might like to, we are not going to sign all the players that we go after. Indeed, if we did then it would suggest that we are a soft touch and offering too much. DJ Campbell did well for us whilst he was here, now he isn't, get over it and move on. I'm afraid that this is a feature of loan signings; here today, gone tomorrow. This is why I, for one, prefer permanent signings and am disappointed when the latest loanee is preferred over one of our own.

Some people on here seem to think we should just go and spend big for the sake of it and gamble on the premise that Big money players/salaries are guarantees of keeping you up
Nobody knows what goes on behind the scenes - FFP is here and at least we are looking at it sensibly - Mick has made some shrewd signings that many on here seem to have written off already - unbelievable -
And dont even get me started on Harry - QPR will be going the same way as Portsmouth and afew others in the next few years - Live in the REAL WORLD not a REALITY WORLD

Can't see MM staying around too long - I reckon he will do his best to keep us up, take his £million if we do, and run.

Sorry, but not at all convinced that the required backing is here for any Manager to make us into a successful outfit.

This scenario with DJ surely proves a point - we were in the driving seat with him in terms of a deal from the start - all to no avail ............ Haven't we been here before ?????

Heard some Interesting comments the other day from Harry and Sky Andrew( Football Agent) about all the brokers who are now involved with football deals - Agents are just part of it .- Clubs are being pulled into deals that involve 3,4 or more outside parties .
The associated costs , wages , fees are crazy .
Football is a crazy business - that makes no sense in the real business world
Just look at the clubs who are spending regardless of FFP .Just take a long look at the owners - Nice place to park some money with absolutely no clue/passion for the club - some people should be careful what they wish for .Ask Blackburn fans what they think of their owners , or Villa Fans or Forest Fans or ..................................

Just said on Sky Sports news that Campbell hasn't signed as the paperwork never went through in time, will be interesting to see if they try & loan him next week. Boyd failed medical at Forest because he hasn't got 20/20 vision, c'mon Mick, get him in on loan!!
