Town Confirm Henderson's Return
Thursday, 31st Jan 2013 22:43

Town have confirmed that keeper Stephen Henderson has returned on loan from West Ham for the rest of the season, as TWTD reported earlier. The Irishman’s move is the Blues’ final addition of the January transfer window.

The Blues needed to complete the switch by this evening’s 11pm deadline as players are unable to join the same club on an emergency loan basis twice in the same season.

Henderson, who made 16 appearances for the Blues during his first spell between October and the beginning of this month, will be back training at Playford Road in the morning.

West Ham have confirmed that the deal is subject to a 24-hour recall, as was the case with Henderson's previous loan.

Earlier today, the Irishman had appeared on his way to Blackburn as part of a swap deal which would see former England keeper Paul Robinson move to Upton Park, However, Rovers were unable to settle Robinson's contract and the deal broke down.

I think this is only a good move if we're planning on getting him permanent in the summer. If not, whats the point of creating more disappointment for loach and short-termism for the club? Reactions to this seemmixed, proving I think that Henderson is not far and away noticeably better than loach.

Guys. You are missing the point. The immediate objective is to stay in the division

Yorkblue: we can do that with loach!

Is a better keeper than Loach so has to be good news. If Loach said he was a Colchester supporter he wouldn't get one fraction of the support he does. Too all the Loach fans who finish off many of their posts with "In Mick we trust" I'd point out that Mick doesn't trust Loach and our points tally with him goal show why.

I'm sorry, but I just don't understand this. Why did we waste all day yesterday trying to sign a GK? Okay, Loach may not be the best - in fact I don't rate him - decent shot-stopper, but can't control area; BUT surely more creativity was a priority? Now it's back to short-term loans again. Waste of time and shows a complete lack of a longer term plan. Back to square one in the Summer, when all loans go, along with out of contract players. Another year of 'gelling'.

Dawson, if you think ALB is a top keeper we really are in trouble! Just as well MMs got him sussed

I believe the plan is to stay in this division, not taking risks with long term/large wage contracts and re-build in the summer. This is sensible and prudent given the implications of FFP.
Januarys transfer business IMO has been good, strengthened defence and striking options, brought in some midfield creativity and all at negligable cost/risk to the club.

And finally, to all those who blindly trust Loach because he is a 'blue' - so am I, but that doesnt mean I'm good enough to be between the sticks on Saturday afternoon.
If Loach had come two yards off his line and collected what was always his ball during the second half of the Barnsley game, we might not have conceded the corner that they scored from. I appreciate that is hypothetical but the points tally difference from when Henderson plays to when Loach plays speaks for itself in my opinion.

DECENT SIGNING YOU SAY? MORE SOLID WITH THAN WITHOUT HIM? you may have a point we did have a decent run of games when Henderson was between the sticks, after he conceeded a huge amount to stabilise himself. But i think its another step backwards unless Loach conceeds 7 in the next 2 (GOD FORBID) Henderson is statistically the worse of the two. (Henderson 29 conceeded in 16; Loach 22 in 14) I will be very dissapointed if he starts tomorrow after the solid performances Loach has given in the last few weeks

Against Barnsley :- If Nouble had done as Loach told him ( get on this post ) the goal would have been stopped !

Will be very disappointed if Loach loses his place to two-touch Henderson. He doesn't clear his area quick enough and he often bats quite simple saves straight back at the opposing team. The 3rd Brighton goal he let him sums him up. He went for a dive when he could have run to collect and the ball did exactly what you would expect...bounce. Henderson is better than ALB and good to keep Loach on his toes but unless Loach has a howler he shouldn't be dropped. PJ made the mistake of damaging the confidence of players by throwing in replacements for no good reason and because he was at a loss of what to do and was trying anything...lets hope MM doesn't do the same. Consistent back line and keeper is what we need. Scott made some great saves at Barnsley and kept us in it at times, including making himself big in the one on ones with harewood and not batting it straight back at his feet like I suspect Hendo would have done.

And Hedno is a funny guy,
The Irish often are,
His kickings like a five year old,
And the ball don't go too far...

so henderson is not where he wanted to be and has now found himself playing championship football when he should in PL - 2 ways of looking at this, he'll be pi**ed off and won't play well, or he'll be out to prove himself worthy of a PL club this summer - lets hope its the latter

Will morons on here who keep saying Loach isn't solid care to actually tell me what he has done wrong? Henderson has made far more mistakes than Loach and his distribution of the ball is woeful! I can't think of one goal we've conceded since Henderson left that was Loach's fault. I really hope hope Henderson starts in the bench this Saturday or it will certainly effect Loach's confidence.

Why do some people feel that we should have been busy yesterday? Purely for the excitement of it all?? Purely for Sky Sports ratings??

Maybe MM thinks he has the squad required to stay up? With Stearman and Wordsworth coming in before the last day of the window I would suggest that MM was well prepared and got his transfer business done in advance of some of the ridiculous stories going around up to 11pm yesterday. Well done MM - I believe we have a very good manager who knows what he wants. If 'Arry had come in instead of Mick, we probably would have got in about 8 or 9 players last night. Does that spell out good management or does it suggest panic buying and irresponsible spending at all costs?

mattraisin ... not defending steeds comments but he did say we havent won this year ,which is correct ,what Ipswich are you watching ?
I am watching the Ipswich that hasnt won since Campbell left ,with half a team added by MM , and us playing against the easiest opponents in the league (there is a reason that they are bottom ) Also went out the cup too a team that is losing to everyone .
And i agree we have youngsters in Hewitt and Loach who need game time and other teams loans brings us back to square one in the summer with the youngsters still without experience
