New MDs Delighted to Be Working at Town
Thursday, 7th Feb 2013 18:44

New joint-managing directors Ian Milne and Jonathan Symonds say they are delighted to have taken on their new roles working at Town on a day-to-day basis. The duo, who are effectively replacing departed chief executive Simon Clegg, joined the board of the club after Marcus Evans’s takeover at Portman Road at the end of 2007.

Milne told the club site: “Both Jonathan and myself are delighted to be at what is a fantastic football club and we really looking forward to getting to know the staff and the way the club operates.

“We have been involved with Ipswich as board members for five years but now have the opportunity to work on the ‘inside’ on a daily basis and it’s a challenge we are really looking forward to.

“We will be speaking to the supporters in time and getting feedback from them but our main objective initially is to speak to the staff here, both on the football side and the administration side, and learn from them as we look to take the club forward.”

Both grew up supporting Chelsea but Symonds says it’s an honour to be at Town: “We’re both big football fans and it’s a privilege to have this opportunity to work at such a well-respected club as Ipswich.

“Obviously results on the pitch have been disappointing over recent years but there are a lot of reasons to be positive about the future of the club.

“There is a terrific fanbase here for a start, as the manager has said, and it’s our job to look at anything and everything that can ultimately help bring success to Ipswich Town.”

Are there two of them so when it all goes wrong, they will never know who to pin the blame on (or) blame each other?

Laurel & Hardy springs to mind!

Give Mick Mills a job? - only to get the bore off the radio- we've just got rid of Clegg what are you thinking of?

You can't judge Sid Little and Eddy Large yet but if they convice Evans to give McCarthy some cash over the next 2 years I think they will cover themselves in at least play off glory

Revamp the club website, lower non season ticket holder ticket prices and change the pathetic can't buy a ticket 2 weeks outside match date and they will be heroes in my eyes- even the tubby one

Mickmillstash-know exactly what u mean. Mills may be a deserved legend but ...my god he's boring. Someone should tell him it shouldn't be necessary to speak for 5 mins to make 1 simple point.

Matt Holland, Alex Mathie, David Johnson even Darren Currie - interesting pundits with interesting opinions.
After the match - I am placing Mills in the ''Turn over to 5 Live'' / Kevin Beattie bracket
I'd rather listen to Crazy Horse.

Why on earth would they have "passion for Ipswich" - and why on earth would it matter?

They're here to do a job, to oversee the administrative side of ITFC. I don't care who they support, as long as everything runs smoothly and the Manager is free to build, select and coach a successful team.

Mick Mills expert analysis is always spot on and shows the indepth knowledge and appreciation he still has for the game. How anyone can criticise him is beyond belief and just shows them to be completely ignorant!

Firstly, the guy on the right looks like an over inflated Jonathan Pearce (commentator)..

Secondly, didn't know we had a board of directors anymore, thought Evans disbanded that..

Thirdly, we will all soon see if Cleggy really was as bad as people lambasted him for..

And finally, Move the away fans to the other end of the Cobbold to bring some much needed atmosphere back to PR..
