Town Drop to 20th
Tuesday, 26th Feb 2013 22:11

Town dropped to 20th in the Championship this evening after their weekend opponents Huddersfield - who are up to 18th - beat Burnley 1-0 at Turf Moor. The Blues remain four points from the drop zone on 39.

There was better news for Town at the Reebok Stadium where Bolton, who are now up to 10th having been in the relegation battle themselves only a matter of weeks ago, beat table-proppers Peterborough United 1-0.

Elsewhere, Leicester City, who are at Portman Road on Saturday, beat Blackburn 3-0 at home having previously gone four games without a win.

On the loan front, Jack Ainsley made his debut alongside fellow Town man Joe Whight as Blue Square Bet South side Chelmsford City lost 2-0 at Bromley.

In League Two, Ronan Murray played the full 90 minutes as his Plymouth side drew 1-1 at AFC Wimbledon.

Meanwhile, the club site has photos of the first team squad during today’s bonding trip to Tendring in Essex for a spot of paintballing.

Not sure this was really worth its own article? In any case, it's about Town picking up the points we need, not relying on everyone else to do us a favour - and I'm sure Mick has no intentions of sitting back hoping others slip up.

I must admit, for the first time really I'm actually thinking we could be heading down - next two games look very tough!

I rest my case, said all along with their game in hand they could go above us with same number of games, should have gone all out for a win on Saturday! Hopefully it won't come back to bite us, at least Wolves are in free fall and have to play Watford on Friday night too! Means the Peterboro away game is a must win for us too!

chealysapleasure, what a moron you are. and yes before you accuse me of being deluded, we could go down, but its not because of mccarthy if that should happen, it down to pj, who if as you suggest wed stuck with him, would have had us already relegated, all bar the shouting by now.instead of making ridiculous comments like mccarthy out why dont you get behind him and the team and back them right to the end of the season.

Nouble scored 3 in the reserves so we should start him on saturaday and try get him on a goal streak we need anyone to score atm because unless we get a run going and get the team on a high again it don't look good, coz its hard to think of 3 worst teams than us atm but like I said if we can get a run going like we can we can stay up, I think we will but only just

Phew - that's good we desperately hung on for that point against them at the weekend.
That hasn't shafted our league position in the slightest.

Oh...

Oh dear I see Saturday's opponents Leicester had a good win last night. I looked at their team, and only good thing is that no David Nugent, not even on the bench. Is he injured? Can't face the thought of the North Stand giving him grief then watching him put a couple past us as usual!

The worry is that Wood will be playing. The good news is that Tommy dealt with him well earlier in the season. At a glimpse, it seems Leicester scored their first two from corners. So we can simply not give them any corners!

Leicester City won 3-0 last night. They know where the back of the net is. On Saturday Tommy Smith is going to have to keep Chris Wood quiet.

Equally, we need to hit the back of their net at least Twice to have any chance of 3 points. For me, that means starting with Drury for NDaw; having McGoldrick and Murphy up front. With the possibility of Edwards being replaced by JET if the captain is as ineffective as he has been in recent games. Bring on Nouble for either of the front two if they fail to score in the first 60 minutes.

3 points on Saturday are a MUST. Watch relegation approach if not Because the points will simply become harder and hard to come by..

I'm back to my 3 phases. Phase 1 under PJ — P13 & 7 points; Phase 2 under MM with DJ Campbell on loan — P13 & 23 points; Phase 3 under MM but no DJ — P8 & 9 points. With 12 games left, 39 points in the bag & Phase 3 form continuing (1.125 points per game), we could end the season with 52 or 53 points. Which should be good enough....but then again....
