Town Prepared to Let Naylor Go
Town Prepared to Let Naylor Go
Monday, 3rd Dec 2001 22:17

Richard Naylor revealed in this evening's Premiership Uncovered that George Burley has said that if an offer comes in then Town will not stand in his way.

Naylor said: "He understands my situation where I want to be playing, I've had a lot of injuries in the last few seasons, with my knees, but they've been fine for almost a year now and I just want to be playing football. I'm 24 and I need to be playing regular football and he's prepared to let me go if there's a decent offer from a decent club."

The decision doesn't come as a huge surprise after Naylor refused to sign an extended contract as he didn't necessarily see himself continuing his career at Portman Road.

Naylor was a trainee at Town and is currently the longest serving player at Portman Road. This season he has been linked with moves to Bradford, Watford and most strongly Crystal Palace. With Steve Bruce, a long-time admirer of Naylor, no longer the Palace manager a move there now looks unlikely, but Bruce may be interested him in taking him to Birmingham when he takes over there.
