McGoldrick Will Stay On After Loan End
Friday, 5th Apr 2013 12:46

TWTD understands that striker David McGoldrick will remain with the Blues for the rest of the season under the terms of the deal agreed with Nottingham Forest in January, despite his 93-day loan coming to an end after Saturday’s game at Derby.

It had been understood that the 25-year-old was on loan at Portman Road for the second half of the season until it emerged yesterday that his stay was actually a 93-day emergency loan rather than a window to window switch.

Players are not allowed to join two clubs on window to window loans during the same season and so a 93-day loan with McGoldrick staying on at Town beyond the end of that spell was agreed.

At the time of McGoldrick's move the club's official announcement of his signing said the striker "will remain at Portman Road until May" but made no specific reference to the length of the loan.

Despite being unavailable for the final five games of the season, it's understood that McGoldrick will continue to train with the Town squad at Playford Road.

Both club and player have stated that McGoldrick will sign a two-year contract in the summer when he becomes a free agent, although Mick McCarthy confirmed yesterday that there is as yet nothing in writing to confirm this and that the deal would only be done if Town retain their Championship status.

To me, to you, to me, to you..........
At least you can't say that in the Simon 'Barry Chuckle' Clegg days, it wasnt entertaining in a totally bizarre way!
Hopefully now things can be focused on getting another 3 points on saturday, and giving those poor children a good send off with the one minute silence.
Keep the faith, no one is too good to go down in this league as the points show, however, under MM, there is belief, hope and fight and really we can't ask for more than that, can we?

All seems pretty understandable to me, rules is rules and at least we managed to ensure he couldn't go back to play for them despite not being allowed to play for us. Shame nonetheless, our best striker at the moment. According to Frank we've got strength in depth though.

Who know what and when?
Anyway, sounding somewhat less ominous than at this time yesterday but we'll have to go without out him after the Derby game for the balance of the season.
A good question from Garv...can he get a run out with the U 21s?

Step forward chopra. 6 games in which to score the remaining 25 goals out of the 30 he promised us. Should keep us safe!

These loan rules and regulations could only have been dreamed up by a politician or an administrator. Get them sorted out or better still scrap loans and the folly of transfers only being allowed within a window.

Seems like everything is set up for him to stay ... provided we stay up. Its actually quite an imaginative solution, if at the time of the negotiations town did not want to pay a fee to Forrest & Mcgoldrick did not want to sign to a club that might be relegated. Legally there was nothing else they could do.

Excellent he will 'stay on' - what ever that means? train and be a mascot on match days...but good news if he signs a 2 year contract in the summer, then Steadman, good GK a more productive wide midfield player and a scorer and we're really going places.

So let me get this right......he can't play for us but we still get to pay his wages??!! Really? Almost as good business as paying out Scotland's contract instead of loaning him out till the end of his contract!!! Someone please engage brain!

Just out of interest, who will be paying his wages while he's training with us without being contracted to us or actually playing for us?
