New Kits Unveiled Later This Month
Thursday, 16th May 2013 12:44

Town have announced that the new home, away and keeper kits for the 2013/14 season will be officially unveiled on Saturday 25th May, although some supporters will get an earlier chance to view them and buy a home strip.

Mannequins will display the new strips in Planet Blue from the day of the official release with the home kit on sale there and at Town’s stand at the Suffolk Show from Wednesday 29th May. The new away strip and keeper kit are on sale from Thursday 27th June.

TeamCard holders from 2012/13, which includes all season ticket holders, Silver Club members and Junior Blues, can get a preview of the kits at Planet Blue on Friday 24th May between 5pm and 8pm when they will also have the chance to be amongst the first to purchase a home kit.

Fans are required to bring their TeamCard in order to gain access on the evening when they will receive points rewards both for coming along and purchasing the kit.

All those attending will be entered into a draw giving them the chance to win a 2013/14 away shirt signed by the squad. Those buying a shirt on the evening will also be given a half price voucher for shirt printing.

Shirt sales will be limited to one per TeamCard holder with further purchases permitted when they go on general sale on the following Wednesday.

The new home kit is believed to feature a return to the traditional white sleeves as well as the red trim from this season, while the away strip is understood to be red and black.

Next season is the last year of the club’s contract with Mitre and we understand the Blues have already held talks with alternative potential future suppliers including Nike.

a Nike shirt may be new to us, but I doubt it will completely new. If it is Nike then expect a blue and white version of Arsenal's kit for next season.

future suppliers including Nike...

"including" Nike........as well as probably the likes of MACRON, WARRIOR, UNDER-ARMOUR and other manufacturers of pants....

Look forward to the release of lots of moody ADDIDAS (2 stripe) shirts on Romford market with the Town badge glued on it ha ha ha

The white sleeves should have been introduced for the 2011/12 season to celebrateand remember the winning of the Division One Championship in 1961/62. The shirts then were with white sleeves and were our colours for many years before that. How times change.

Just hope it is bold and simple, sometimes it looks like they make a half decent shirt, then somebody decided it isn't 'edgy' enough and chucks some random piping on it or something.

If we ever went with Nike, we should emulate the current collared Brazil shirt but in our colours obviously, all blue with a white collar and white cuffs on the sleeves.

Interesting to see that the only other 'club' in England to use Mitre is the Glenn Hoddle Academy. I had no idea we in such an esteemed grouping with our kit.

White sleeves - yes please! Hope we keep these for a while yet. Aside from this season, Town kits have been junk for a long while now.

Anything is better than the poorly made and designed Mitre kits.

I heard that we were going to be getting Sondico after this season, one of my mates that works for the blues was saying.

I'm hoping the new kit is absolute pants. I've still got a good years wear left on the last one and I need an excuse not to buy a new one.

I dont like criticising the club and know they have to maximise their revenue and FFP and all that but this is such a blatant rip off for fans.

I know other clubs do it but doesnt mean we have to follow, for a parent like me its a nightmare as effectively being put under pressure forking out on kit every year although of course as a parent I have every right to say no.

Is it only me that thinks this club has lost touch with the way it used to operate?!

I remember the time that The Player of the Year Vote was conducted the week BEFORE the last home game - so we used to be able to show our appreciation to the recipient, rather than look to TWTD to find out our winner...?

Similarly - We used to be able to vote as a majority over the Home kit, and then be able to SEE the winner, AND Pre order it, on the last game of the season, if not before - in anticipation of the coming season.... Christ, I haven't bought the home kit in 3 years now - and am given NO reason to want to do so ever again..... Things change, seemingly for the worse. Is it me getting old, or am I just standing my ground in protest, and watching rubbish decisions made by people who don't follow the ITFC way and don't realise why our club is going downhill year by year....?

nice mock up Clive Baker - for the 2014/15 season shirt change perhaps TWTD could campaign with the club for a selection of proposals to be put forward and voted on by fans as before BUT also allow 'official' outside parties to formulate proposals to be considered and have a competition amongst the TWTD community to submit and vote - perhaps some charitable donation to vote could raise funds for youth development at the club.

The Benchware will be by Matalan (as usual).

To be fair, at least Mitre are British (OK, everything will be made in the far east of course).

Besides, they sponsor the El Salvador national team, and each week the whole of the Football league play with their balls!

Cant get much better than that.

Something similar to the 61/62 white sleeve kit would be a great choice- just a pity the fans haven't had the option to vote again for some different options , as they will be the ones buying the kit. The kits should be for two seasons though not one, alternating with the away kit every other year as happened before - people who want more kit can always buy the numerous training kits on offer . The new kit will be discounted after Xmas again as it will be replaced again next season, miles too soon if it is a decent kit !

Shirt Voting will never come back, do you not realise in the past it was probably rigged anyway. It would be impossible to allow people to vote for their favourite shirt, get them all manufactured and shipped in such a small space of time. In the real world manufacturers need to know months in advance of what shirt design to make. Just look on the retail Twitter page, they started designing the shirt months ago. Most people on have no clue of the ins and outs of this type of business. I agree it will be great to see white sleeves come back if this is the case. As far as an Aspall shirt sponsor in the future I doubt it, they would't be allowed alcohol branding on kids shirts. Would be great to have a selection of beautiful cider at the bars though! As far as the old debate about one season rotation - you don't have to buy it! I love it though, I spend £30 on one shirt every season for my boy and that's all he wears! saves me a fortune on other clothing for the rest of the year!
