Norwich Chief Quizzes Fans on Town Friendly

Norwich City chief executive David McNally has sounded out Canaries supporters on whether they would like a pre-season friendly against Town if the profits were to go to their academy and a local charity. On Tuesday, TWTD revealed that the clubs were in advanced talks regarding a friendly at Carrow Road.

So far the feedback to McNally's tweet has been overwhelmingly against a revival of the pre-season games which used to take place regularly in years gone by.

The proposed fixture looks likely to take place on Sunday 28th July, a week before the start of the Championship and three weeks prior to the first Premier League game of the 2013/14 season.

I bet they make "another" trophy for game.

Tin pot club with no history.

Why would we want to contribute to funding their academy?

Would prefer this not to take place.

1) costs to much to police.
2)would ruin the competitiveness of the derby.
3)injuries are bound to occur.
4)Could destroy fan and team morale so close to the beginning of the season if we lose or even worse get smashed.

Chippenham Town away or Scummers away. No brainer which one I,d rather be at. Regardless of where the proceeds would go, it would give us an opportunity to pit our club against a premier league team. How many of you bothered to go to our friendly against the "Hammers" last pre season?. great win, looked forward to the the first proper game & we were s##te for the next 6 months. The result wouldn,t matter too much, but some good local banter would be great. Bring it on.

Mr Evans
Not an ideal comparison to make in the current climate. incidents between rival fans at football matches do occur in "the real world" not in peoples heads.

Are you lot fkin kidding me?? An Ipswich Norwich match and most of you are saying what's the point?? Seroiusly get a grip. Forget money etc, this is the local derby. Couldn't give a shiny one whether its a friendly or not. Jeez.

Ipswich v Scum or Scum v Ipswich. Get in, a chance to stick one up em. Bring it.

I remember the hospital cup days. Always looked forward to it.

Sounds great to me. A good quality run out against some decent opposition and no travelling involved so not tiring or expensive. Better than games against Irish or Scottish teams. I'm all for rivalry but at the end of the day it's a game of football, not life and death.

If we were in the PL and raring to test out our brand new £8m Dutch striker then I'm sure we would be all for it but unfortunately there is no incentive for town supporters to get excited about this.

Asking their fans? What nonsense. They may be temporarily above us (and that hurts) you only have to look at the record over the past 50 years to understand which is the (far) superior club. There was a great article on here a couple of years ago comparing the achievements and contributions of the respective clubs over the years to understand our respective positions and status. If a friendly can be arranged so be it. We have no need to be ashamed of our great club.

big no not interested from me.. more de-valuing by someone with a not so bright scheme.. Please can this idea be forgotten about sharpish.. As for the suggestion the old farm derby is just a touch of banter, not so sure

I'm with you WadeyBlue. Could be an annual event as it used to be when many on here were not even born. Get a grip folks. What a way to start the season by beating them!!

No opposed on the grounds that a friendly is just that friendly. This is not a game I would want to see unless we are in the same league

Haha look how scared you all are!? Why wouldn't you want to play them? It's unlikely that we'll play them for a few years and if the profits were split then happy days. It'd be a good day out and it seems you are all frightened of losing, it's a friendly ffs! We are already the laughing stock of the rivalry after their promotion season so it can't get any worse. It's just a bit of fun for a good cause, get a grip and stop taking football so seriously!!

I just think its lTS A DISASTER waiting to happen , unecessary injuries with hard tackles going in and certainly not an ideal time or game to play so close to the new season !!!
