Jackett: No Offers for Stearman
Tuesday, 25th Jun 2013 09:57

New Wolves boss Kenny Jackett says he is yet to receive any bids for ex-Town loan defender Richard Stearman. Speaking yesterday, Blues manager Mick McCarthy didn’t rule out the 25-year-old, who has a year left on his Molineux contract, returning to Portman Road this summer.

Jackett says he is yet to talk to the right-back or centre-half about his situation: "I have a completely open mind on Stearman.

“I haven’t spoken to him but he’s under contract. I don’t think there have been any bids for him.”

Meanwhile, Irish sources are linking the Blues with Stephen Ward, one of the four players Jackett made available for transfer yesterday as Wolves look to cut their budget after their relegation to League One.

While it was McCarthy who brought the 27-year-old Irish international to Molineux, Town seem unlikely to target a left-back unless Aaron Cresswell moves on. Speaking yesterday, McCarthy said he had received no interest in any of his squad.

I've never seen a player so openly offered to a club before, he has obviously not generated any interest from other clubs; which leads me to think that if we want him he's ours. COYB

But Stephen Ward can also be an attacking left sided player. Was a striker when he first joined Wolves

Its quite clear Wolves are desperate to offload their big wage earners. They cant possibly keep these players in League One. I suspect the Wolves manager is trying desperately to drum up interest, but Club will wait untuil the last possible moment to make derisory bids for the players - just like CharlTOWN did to us all those yeasr ago!

Hope we can get Stearman back but only if it's at the right price. Wonder if Mick is hanging on till other prospective suitors show their hand, or perhaps until closer to the start of the season when Wolves might lower their asking price just to get rid.

Stearman could potentially be an important player for us, but we need to get him at the right price both in terms of wages and transfer fee. Were Wolves asking for £1.7 million at one point? That would be an utterly silly fee.

I say take him on another season long loan. Wolves get a proportion of his wages paid and we avoid a transfer fee. Hewitt will be ready to be our full time rb by then. If not, we will be well placed to sign him for free.

Come on Mick please put every penny you have into signing Stearman. Really think he's the main piece of the jigsaw.

Love for Stearman to come back, was rock solid for us in a position where we've been weak for a couple of seasons. However saying that Hewitt looks promising, but we have no cover.
