Blues Amongst Clubs Linked With Bailey
Tuesday, 25th Jun 2013 12:05

Town are reported to be amongst a number of Championship clubs interested in midfielder Nicky Bailey following his Middlesbrough exit at the end of the season. The Blues are said to be battling Reading, QPR, Burnley, Blackburn, Charlton and Bolton for the 29-year-old’s signature.

Londoner Bailey, who was previously mentioned in connection with Town in the summer of 2010 prior to his switch to Teesside, was a youth player with Fulham before moving into non-league with Sutton United.

He subsequently joined Barnet before signing for Southend in 2004. His form at Roots Hall led to a move to Charlton a year later, then in July 2010 he signed for Boro for £1.4 million.

If there is anything in the reported link, the Blues would struggle to offer Bailey wages matching those that would be available at the various clubs mentioned who have the significant benefit of parachute payments.

Mick Mcarthy'S perfect player defensive, past it, very boring and no creativity. Sort it out MM i was bored watching us last season, we are going to be even more drear this one.

Not the type of player we need in my opinion. We need to inject some pace into the side and someone who gets forward and scores goals from midfield. Saying that, if Mick likes him then i'll like him.
P.s mattb97 - don't be a clown.

I totally agree michael11. He might be a good player but not the type of midfielder we need. Same goes for Karl Henry in my opinion. But we'll all back whoever Mick does bring in.

Thought he was decent at Charlton but not bowled over by his Middlesbrough form. Would welcome numbers in midfield but not particularly bothered if this guy is one of them.

Unbelievable negativity by mattb97! In Mick we trust, still think we need a couple of proper wingers in the side instead of central midfielders.

"Town are reported to be.... " by whom? nothing to substantiate it and yet it starts a debate about whether he's good enough etc etc. God protect us from newspaper hacks..

Not a bad player, I remember him shining when he was at Barnet. Not sure whether we need another player of his mould though.

As long as it isn't Stephen Bailey we will be alright

Middlesbrough must be back in the race for him - no way we're rumoured to be interested in a player without Middlesbrough tagging along!

Well thats a first ! But then again i don't suppose even Middlesborough could be ' linked ' with a player they are releasing ! Almost a clear run for us !

Bailey would improve our midfield without doubt...

Theobald. spot on comment. absolutely right that we not have to pay big money to get in good players. but then I guess people like manningtree would have negative comments to make if we signed messi on a free.(no, I don't think that a possibility btw.).
