JET Due in Bristol on Monday
Sunday, 30th Jun 2013 10:36

Town midfielder Jay Emmanuel-Thomas is expected at Bristol City on Monday to talk personal terms regarding the swap deal which would see Robins winger Paul Anderson, 24, join the Blues.

According to reports in Bristol, negotiations between the clubs are at an advanced stage with the proposed deal a straight swap with no money changing hands. The moves could be finalised within the next couple of days.

Anderson, who like 22-year-old Emmanuel-Thomas has a year left on his contract with his current club, is believed to have already spoken to Town.

The only remaining potential stumbling blocks would appear to be the Robins matching Emmanuel-Thomas’s wage demands - although he is believed to be willing to take a pay cut - and persuading him to drop into League One.

Emmanuel-Thomas, who along with Michael Chopra was told he could find a new club at the end of 2012/13, previously worked under Bristol City boss Sean O'Driscoll during a loan spell at Doncaster Rovers.

the joke is the idea of a swap with Anderson.. you cannot compare the two!! Anderson will not offer anything to us.. Weak, predictable, injury prone. No bottle.. Sean O'Drisscoll is not stupid either

jas0999 - ...... just ignore the excuse makers, and condoners of bulls*it - and there are several, all of whom will look for an excuse for anything, and everything, associated with the Club.

Your post wording is correct - as I've said before it's all instrumental as to why we are where we are, and have been for far, far, too long.

What I do not like is if you dare disagree with anything the Club does - you are told the Club does not need your support and go elsewhere - how sadly PATHETIC. As if this Club can afford that on current trends !!

JET is a luxury for us on past form, especially given his wage. He's a maverick and an impact player, great if you have space for him in your squad but we need bread and butter players first, those that just do the simple stuff. Anderson doesn't have to set the world alight to be more useful to us than JET, he just has to be a better professional (which shouldn't be hard).

jas, I agree it was unnecessary for you to be called a div. but lets face it ,you weren't actualy asking some1 to anwer the pints you were making, just being negative, without any cause, as usual. not surprised that h32 came on and agreed with you, hes more negative than you, even pazelle made his usual,if rare appearance to be negative too. oh, 1 more thing h32, u often say people are entitled to their opinions, and yes, they are. but strange when ne1 else gives their opinion, you accuse them of making excuses.

Runningout and pazelle

The joke is on Bristol City. What on earth has jet ever offered us in two years? We may finally get a proper winger in return.

h32 is right. Wenger didn't want JET and I can't think of many Arsenal rejects who go on to prove Wenger wrong.

garv. whats disappointing about replacing a player who simply doesn't perform with a player proven at this level. not saying hes a worldbeater, but certainly hes more consistent than jet, and on form is an excellent player. if you mean its disappointing that he hasn't performed to his potential here then yes, I agree totally. pazelle. the only joke around here, is people like you who just cant post nething positive on here at all. if you not know nething about Anderson then just don't comment at all. if you do, then you must know hes a decent player

I hope he stays with us, I know he wasnt consisent but he knew how to get the fans going with the 30 yard strikes or the skill. However if Anderson will run at defenders and cross its good. Hopefully he wont be a Gavin Williams a man with talent ruined by injury.

I think it says a lot about JET that he should even be considering a pay cut, compared to Chopra who seems willing to sit around and pick up a wage, should he be rotting in the reserves or not.

@Jas0999 "What disappoints me the most though, is I have read so much on here about the FFP and excuses for why we can not spend more on wages and fees. Then we read that a Division 1 side can potentially afford one of our highest earning players (regardless of whether or not JET will take a pay cut - his wages will I suspect still be more than we are paying some of our players)."

I wouldn't concern yourself with our finances because you are clearly making wild assumptions. We have already more than HALVED our wage bill from last season from £18m which was 157% of our turnover. It is now down to the less than the required 60% by the SCMP rules for our division (FFP does not apply in League 1).

We have worked very hard to get our house in order, it was a ridiculous situation to be in regardless of the fact we have a billionaire owner happy to fund it. We are changing our ways and trying to live by our means - which was one of the reason S'OD agreed to manage us.

If JET is signing, he will be on massively reduced wages, probably performance related Eg. Increase on Promotion etc. If this is the case fair play to the guy for trying to get his career going again.

With regards to Paul Anderson, don't take too much notice of any negative comments. He is a very good player, works hard and has a real touch of class. Chips in with goals and assists. He was in a poor team last season, in a better team he would prosper even more. I think you are getting a very good player.

All the best for next season,

Janner46 (Brizzle)

Anderson has always looked a lively player whenever I have seen him play and hopefully will provide some proper width to the team. I agree with others that losing JET is a disappointment but he only shows his brilliance in flashes. Think a move to Bristol City where he will play every week will be good for his career.

As for Anderson, I trust Mick in bringing the right type of player to the club. I'm sure we have scouted Anderson for a while and thought he was good enough to bring in. In Mick we trust! COYB!

He divides opinion and I honestly dont know the answer to this one, if he goes to City and does ok, we will all have a degree of satisfaction if Anderson does well for us.

However if Thomas turns into Jordan Rhodes Mark 2, then I will get the same pang as I do when I see Rhodes on a scoresheet.

Thanks for your comments always good to hear the view from the other team's supporters - good luck with JET if you get him there is the potential for a fantastic player given the right manager / coaches.

Who will ever forget JET ripping Wet Spam apart at Portman Road......just a pity he never repeated this form again last season.... time for him to move on if MM has given up on him at last !

For all these morons thinking this move is joke. If you think that then you think MM is a joke as he wants it to happen. I'll trust MM's opinion over you idiots any day of the week and twice on Sunday. You either back MM or keep whining like little girls who don't get their way.
