Veseli Keen on Town Move
Thursday, 18th Jul 2013 09:19

Trialist defender Frederic Veseli is keen to join the Blues, according to his agent. The 20-year-old former Manchester United man has impressed Mick McCarthy since he joined the Blues for their trip to Ireland and, following a hamstring injury, 45 minutes in Tuesday’s friendly at Gillingham.

His agent Adam Bouskouchi says he has already turned down offers from clubs this summer but is enjoying his time at Town: “A lot of people in the game recommended he went and worked with Mick McCarthy and they are certainly his number one choice.”

Veseli, who plays at centre-half and in midfield as well as at right-back, was previously linked with Crystal Palace, Birmingham, Wigan and unnamed sides in the Bundesliga and Serie A.

A Swiss international at U15, U16, U17 and U18 levels, Veseli joined the Red Devils from rivals Manchester City in January 2012. He was previously a youth player with hometown club FC Renens and FC Lausanne-Sport. He is yet to make a senior appearance for any of his clubs.

The Blues are already in talks with Tottenham regarding signing another trialist, centre-half Bongani Khumalo, on a season-long loan.

Seems to have been highly thought of by big clubs earlier in his career, can play right-back and seems keen to join. Why not?...another free transfer and potentially another good piece of business.

He sounds decent, would of worked with some world class defenders over the past few years and if we're his number one choice then bring him in.

The lad sounds class though there isn't a lot of info available about him being so young.

Sounds like a smart move. When you consider how Keano and Jewell flushed millions down the pan on unproven youngsters like Lee Martin, JET etc, this seems relatively low risk. Am I the only one who thinks that FFP could be a blessing in disguise?

I think this would be a very good signing. Young and adaptable is good!

But, is it right to be concerned that MM is obsessed with signing players who can play at centre back? I remember his Sunderland team with Anton Ferdinand and Bardsley at FBs, not really offering anything creative from the back four. Yes, of course you build from the back and make a solid foundation, and Mick's teams have done that evry well (even us last year). But what if we were to sign Veseli, Khumalo, Bramble, and Berra? Very unlikely, but it goes to show how many defenders have been linked to more creative players. Not many.

With the decent but not outstanding forwards we have, and lots of defenders, expect lots of 1-0 scorelines next year!

Oh yes please if he wants it why not. If he didn't like it here he would have moved on by now.

Have a good feeling about this one and hope we can sign him. Add some creativity and pace in the midfield and we're looking at a decent squad this year.

Oh look! ANOTHER "quality" player about to join the growing ranks of quality at ITFC . The McCarthy revolution is well underway at FPR!

COYB's. Get him signed on that dotted line - quick!

Young player with potential, available on a free and his first choice is Ipswich? Sign him up Mick. I really like the players we've been looking at, starting to see a good blend of experience and youth in the squad which is great.

Like the idea of a few options at CB.. that's if we bring in more.. This is something we should have done a long long time ago.. Before the season starts I think MM should be offered an extended contract, rather than wait.. Not singing his praises. But hey, not much better around, even after the trauma at Wolves

Sign him up! He would be useful as he can play centre back and right back. Must have talent if United decided to buy him from City.

Another possible player for the Town world cup players group along with Tommy? Seems to be one of Switzerlands highest rated youngsters.

Also just been browsing some Man Utd fans comments about him, they think he will be another player they regret leaving like Pogba or Ljajic.

It would be great if Harryfrombath could do one of his expert analyses on how the Man U fans view Veseli. There are so many Man U forums out there I don't know where to look.

On Veseli, the very fact that he appears to be choosing us over the likes of Palace/Brum/Wigan is reason to be happy, as he is clearly rated. But I'll be waiting for the fat lady to sing first...

MM inspires confidence. That's his greatest attribute as a manager. No false promises. No treating fans or media as fools. He uses a huge amount of common sense in everything he does. With no money to spend, he has brought some excellent freebies to the club, either trialists or training with us but always signing the right people. Even the coaching staff is in good shape right now.
"Here comes the sun...."
