Tuesday, 6th Aug 2013 18:59

Town boss Mick McCarthy hands Frederic Veseli, Christophe Berra and Dean Gerken (pictured) their Blues debuts in tonight’s Capital One Cup tie at Stevenage. Up front, the Town manager gives Paul Taylor his first start in 11 months alongside Frank Nouble.

With Aaron Cresswell (thigh) and Tyrone Mings (knee) out injured, former Stevenage loanee Tommy Smith switches to left-back in a side featuring six changes from Saturday.

Paul Anderson makes his first start for Town having been a sub at Reading, while youngsters Kyle Hammond and Amir Berkane are amongst the subs.

Stevenage were forced into a late change when keeper Chris Day twisted his ankle in the warm-up. Steve Arnold took over.

Stevenage: Arnold, Wedgbury, Hills, Ashton, Morais, Charles, Burrow, Heslop, Freeman, Tansey, Tounkara. Subs: Day, Jones, Akins, Haber, N'Guessen, Shroot, Deacon.

Town: Gerken, Veseli, Chambers, Berra, Smith, Anderson, Skuse, Hyam, Tabb, Taylor, Nouble. Subs: Loach, Hewitt, Hammond, Berkane, Edwards, Murphy, McGoldrick.

Bit peed off no place for Marriott on the bench.

Just realised we are also playing four centre backs in our defence. Nice to have versatile players like Tommy and Veseli who can cover in other positions.

Fingers crossed as this wont be a push over by any means. Tough and good little side at SB.

Strong backline. Hope that Frank puts himself about a bit up front. He could do with a goal or 2 after a quiet pre-season. Glad to see Taylor getting his start. COYB !
