Skuse Hopeful He'll Be Fit for Leeds Clash
Tuesday, 20th Aug 2013 16:23

Midfielder Cole Skuse says he’s hopeful he’ll be over the injury he suffered at QPR on Saturday in time to face Leeds at Portman Road this weekend. The 27-year-old was forced off at half-time at Loftus Road with an Achilles’ problem.

Speaking at this morning’s open training day, the Bristolian said he wouldn’t be taking part: “I won’t be training today, I’m pencilled in for a bit of TLC from the physio department. But I’ll be keeping a close eye on the lads sweating in the heat.

“I’ve got a lighter day today, I’ll rest up and hopefully get my injury sorted for the weekend. I’m hoping so, I’d like to be strapped up and ready to go, so we’ll see.”

He added: “It’s my Achilles’ and ankle. It was a strange one, I’ve made a tackle, everything’s jarred up and tweaked, but I think it’s more old age than anything.”

Keep Dean Gerken also didn't take part in this morning's session on the main Portman Rad pitch, having missed the trip to West London with a dead leg suffered in a collision with Frank Nouble in training.

Shame - he was playing great ... but if Mick is looking to play just Hyam or Skuse - then Luke is fit and raring to go.

Best not to rush these type of injury Skusey me!

He's probably been our best player so far this season, really solid in midfield, hopefully he's fit

Hope he makes it.

He has become a crucial player for us already this season and we need him fit!

Wasn't at the game on saturday but from what i've heard, when he came off is when we started losing the battle a little bit and he was brilliant against Millwall so hope he's fit. hopefully Hyam has a bit more freedom to roam forward with Skuse in the holding role.
