Carson Leaves Town
Monday, 2nd Sep 2013 18:13

Midfielder Josh Carson has left Portman Road by mutual consent. The 20-year-old Northern Irish international is out of manager Mick McCarthy’s plans and has recently spent time on trial with Bristol City, Notts County and Hibernian.

Carson, who was contracted until the end of the season, can now find a new club outside the transfer window.

McCarthy told the club site: “We thank Josh for all his efforts at Ipswich Town and we wish him all the best for the future.”

Carson, who was on loan at York City during the latter stages of last season, made 18 starts and 15 sub appearances for the Blues having come through the academy, scoring five goals.

The midfielder's exit looks set to be the only action at Portman Road on an unusually quiet final day of the transfer window.

@newtownfan13 just where are all these experienced players MM signed? I swear the knowledge of football amount the average Ipswich football fan is that of the village idiot. As for Joshbi have met him nice kid but I fear he just wasn't good enough for the championship. Couple of good games where he showed a lot of promise but couldn't maintain it. Wish him luckand expect a league 1or 2 side to sign him.

Will this one come back to bite us in the bum? Wouldn't be the first time. Like its been mentioned he had a decent goal scoring record for a teenager playing on the wing.

Hasn't played one minute under McCarthy has he?

Smitherenes123.....Wash your mouth out ! Roy keane gave Rhodes away ( virtually) i see he banged in a couple more on saturday. Wish Josh well, but this isnt no Rhodes type disaster, the boy just wasnt good enough and all those trials at other clubs suggest that others are not beating the door down to sign him!....coyb

I always want our young players to do well, he may well prove to be a good player but for some players dropping down the leagues in your early twenties is the right thing to do to develop. Also mutual consent means that we haven't paid him a penny but that both parties have agreed to terminate his contract.
