McCarthy: We're Playing Better Football This Year Saturday, 19th Oct 2013 06:01 Boss Mick McCarthy believes his side is playing better football than they were last season. The Blues go into today’s game against league leaders Burnley looking to extend their home winning streak to four games. McCarthy revealed what’s behind the improvement this season: “I’ve a great tactic, I just ask them to pass it to players in the same colour shirt and it generally works! “I think we’ve played some good football this year. Last year, I came in and we were bottom of the league and it was about getting points. “As I’ve said before, if you can then add a little bit to it and play some nice football, then that’s fantastic. Credit to the players, I think they’ve played some really good football this year.” The Blues boss is unlikely to make any changes to his team ahead of today’s game against the Clarets, Town have lost only one in their last seven, but feels the players who dropped out of the side after the home defeat to Leeds were unlucky. “I think the players that started the season actually played well but we didn’t get the results we deserved, and you can include Carlos, Tabby, Elliott Hewitt and Loachy in that,” he said. “The lads that have come in have played very well and deserve to be in the team and that’s how it’s going to stay.”
