Fülöp to Resume Career
Thursday, 14th Nov 2013 15:15

Former Town keeper Márton Fülöp has been given the go ahead to resume his football career having undergone treatment to remove a malignant tumour on his arm.

In June, the 30-year-old, who was with the Blues for a year from August 2010, announced that he was taking a break while he recovered from the surgery.

The Hungarian international, whose most recent club was Greek side Asteras Tripoli, is already back in training and is aiming to be ready for a return to competitive action by the end of the year. He will have regular check-ups for the next five years.

Fülöp passed on his thanks to Town and supporters in a message to the club: "I would like to thank the ITFC fans and the club for their kind support which helped me stay in a positive frame of mind."

I always thought he was a very good goalkeeper for us, the best we've had for many years.

Good news this - always a good keeper and great to see him back in the game.

All best wishes for his future career. Would be no bad thing to see him back with us.

All the best Marton! Good, solid keeper for us, remember his great performance when we beat Arsenal 1-0.

Best keeper we've had since Kelvin IMO. Glad he's back in time to still have 4 or 5 years playing at a high standard. Good luck Marton!

Always liked him, remembered his performances in both Arsenal games, and an excellent save against Cardiff.

Good luck for the future Marton. Am glad the recovery seems to have gone well.

Midastouch - talk about lack of empathy. If you can't think of anything positive to say about a bloke recovering from a tumour then do us a favour and keep quiet. Articles like this put football into perspective. Given the content of the story, your comment about his perceived failings is hardly appropriate. I thought town supporters had more courtesy than that.
