Hyam Back But Taylor a Doubt
Monday, 2nd Dec 2013 15:08

Midfielder Luke Hyam will be back in the Blues squad for Tuesday’s home game against Blackburn Rovers, but striker Paul Taylor remains a doubt with the shoulder injury he suffered in the home defeat to Leicester City. Both players missed Saturday’s 1-0 victory at Charlton.

Manager Mick McCarthy said: “Luke’s fine, Paul went for a scan today, he’s not got any serious damage but he came off in training yesterday so he’s going to have an injection in that and that’ll settle it down. It’s nothing major but he’s still feeling the soreness, so he’s struggling.”

Centre-half Luke Chambers suffered a knock towards the end of Saturday’s match but is expected to be OK.

“He did, he’s got a swollen knee, a broken nose, but apart from that he’s fine,” McCarthy said. “He’ll be all right, Chambo, he’ll be fine tomorrow.

“None of them have really trained today. It was a tough game on Saturday and we’ve another one today and Saturday. Everybody else is OK.”

Right-back Elliott Hewitt has returned to the club after his loan at Gillingham was curtailed but a fractured ankle and his manager expects him to be out for around a month: “He went to see a specialist, James Calder, this morning, who is an excellent guy. We expect him to be out for four weeks, hopefully quicker, but we’ll see.”

As his side goes into the second of three games in a week, McCarthy is keeping his cards close to his chest regarding any changes he might be weighing up: “You’ll find out tomorrow.”

Was pleased to hear Tabb had a better game. Hopefully this run will give us some more solidity.

The only question is RT or LH in the middle. The rest of the team kind of picks itself.

Come on Taylor...
Man up! We need you firing if we're going to hit top 6.

Tabb's not a left mid-fielder and Anderson was poor on Saturday (and hasn't been that great yet) so if Taylor's fit I'd like to see him on the right (or if not, give Graham a run out?) and Hunt on the left.

Wickets - yeah that's true I suppose! In other games though you can see that Tabb is not cut out to be on the left. Yes, going by the second half performance on Saturday, Skuse is the only one who Mick shouldn't consider dropping.

Wickets - .... not at all sure we have a midfield - certainly not a cohesive one that creates anything !

Feel sorry for McGoldrick - the service he gets is abysmal - will be interesting to see how long he puts up with it !!

Totally agree with the above few posts - something needs to be done with our midfield come the January transfer window, a player who can try to take on an opponent, good crossing, step-overs etc something different to rattle defenses - presently our midfield looks abject creatively.

Play a proper winger or two and you might be able to afford two defensive midfielders.
