Marriott On As Sub As Woking Thrashed
Tuesday, 18th Feb 2014 21:50

On-loan striker Jack Marriott came on as a 55th minute sub as Woking were thrashed 5-1 at Dartford in the Skrill Premier. The Cards had been reduced to 10 men just after the half hour mark.

Right-back Freddie Veseli was subbed in the 87th minute as Bury drew 0-0 away against 10-man Accrington Stanley in League Two.

Elliott Hewitt, who has served a one-match ban following his recent red card, and Gillingham take on Sheffield United at home on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, Wigan's 2-0 victory over Barnsley has pushed Town down to ninth in the Championship.

Sub for Woking. Get real guys, a great prospect. But he's going to fire us into the Premiership.

Doesn't work like that.

Only a substitite, why was that? I think Marriott was their star man at that level?

Looking at the table and thinking of McGoldrick's injury, I can see Ipswich finishing 12th. Blackburn, Watford and Leeds are all within three points of us, and two have games in hand. Hopefully we can finish ahead of the likes of Huddersfield and Middlesbrough, and it'll still be a fairly good season by recent standards.

Seems either he wasn't match fit or they were trying to teach him a lesson for going to gillingham.

Well if the reasons behind Marriot going out on loan was to get games and his not getting them then I think it's time Mick brought him home to get games with his proper club. No point on Marriot staying at Woking being on the subs bench especially with DM injured might as well be warming out bench and other giving players a reason to work hard on the pitch

waste of time him being on loan there .Get him back and have him in and around the 1st team squad ,he has great potential ,lets realise that instead of letting another slip away ..

Marriott not playing much at Woking, SEB not looking sharp in his comeback, Dids injured, Nouble being Nouble, it don't look good. Expect more bore draws. Murphy and Taylor up front is looking the best option right now, but I won't hold my breath......

There are so many reasons why Marriott may not have started last night. He may have had a slight knock in the previous match (he came off with 15 minutes to go) or during training. We shouldn't be so quick to assume that it is because he isn't their first choice.
BUT if that is the case, and he isn't their first choice at the moment, then that will be for a good reason and it shows he clearly isn't ready. Woking won't have dropped their guy who has scored 10 goals in 13 games or whatever it is without good reason.
Everyone should chill out. They are all professionals (or semi pros) and we aren't for a reason.

........ come the end of the season 12th is about where we will sit, with or without Jack in the squad (altho' he should be now in my opinion, along with Hewitt) - otherwise where do we start next season ? have we brought on our younger players in terms of the Championship ?.
And our older players will all be a year older !! - sobering thoughts I guess, but let's hope it all pans out for the better, otherwise I have a feeling that Season Ticket purchasing may not be too tempting next time round.
