Williams Handed First Town Start
Saturday, 15th Mar 2014 14:24

Jonny Williams is handed his full Town debut as the Blues take on fellow play-off challengers Wigan at Portman Road. Sylvan Ebanks-Blake drops to the bench in an otherwise unchanged side.

On-loan Palace man Williams looks set to start behind Daryl Murphy in what seems likely to be a 4-4-1-1 formation. Former Blues loanee Ryan Tunnicliffe starts for the Latics.

Town: Gerken, Chambers (c), Berra, Smith, Cresswell, Skuse, Hyam, Anderson, Hunt, Williams, Murphy. Subs: Loach, Mings, Green, Tabb, Richardson, Taylor, Ebanks-Blake.

Wigan: Al Habsi, McClean, Gomez, McArthur, Boyce, Ramis, Perch, Barnett, Tunnicliffe, Fortune, Waghorn. Subs: Carson, Crainey, Kiernan, McEachran, McManaman, Powell, Maynard. Referee David Coote (Nottinghamshire).

A fairly attacking formation but this line up is without a renowned goalscorer, hopefully the midfield will step up.

Looks like a set up that allows Williams to play to his strengths. Hopefully will see Taylor on at some point? Looks good COYB

..and not one foreigner (other than English born Smith) in the whole matchday squad..makes a refreshing change when you compare that to the lack of Brits in some of the premiership teams.
