Town Announce Season Ticket Price Rise
Thursday, 20th Mar 2014 17:16

Town have announced a slight rise in season ticket prices for the 2014/15 campaign. An adult seat in the lower tier of any stand purchased before the April 14th early bird deadline costs £399 compared with £390 for the current season, only the second time prices have risen in the last eight years.

That works out at £17.35 per game at Championship level, a saving of more than £230 compared with the club’s current matchday prices.

Upper tier prices around the stadium for a standard season ticket have gone up by around six per cent.

Season tickets for concessions are available from £289, while fans under 20 will pay from £231.

The under-11s season ticket is frozen at £10 for the year, while the cheapest under-16s price has increased to £113.

Town, who had around 12,000 season ticket holders last season, have added an incentive to sign up to the Academy Association. Season ticket holders who purchase before the Early Bird deadline of April 14th and who are investing £10 a month in the Academy Association will receive a free Premier League season ticket for 2015/16 if Town go up.

This replaces the Premier League Price Pledge which has run for a number of seasons and gave season ticket holders 50 per cent off a Premier League season ticket if the Blues went up.

The 12-month interest free direct debit payment scheme with continue with those that used the facility last season automatically renewed for 2014/15.

Joint-managing director Jonathan Symonds said: “One look at the Championship table illustrates the progress we have made over the past year or so.

“Under Mick, we are heading in the right direction and striding closer to our ambitions of Premier League football.

“While success at first-team level is obviously the priority, we are also committed to investing in homegrown talent through our Academy and we hope to reach category one status by the end of the season.

“That will put us in the best position to find and develop our own players and see them progress to the first team.”

Season tickets go on sale from ITFC Direct on Monday with more details on the club site.

The prices on Ipswich season tickets has remained fairly static over the last decade. Yes nobody wants to pay more but the cost of overheads is increasing for the club in exactly the same way it does to all of us. It's to be expected, and I think that they have actually been very consistent on their season ticket pricing policy.

Don't confuse entertainment value and emotional responses to running a sustainable business, they don't mix and I don't think any sensible business organisation would mix them either.
Obviously I would love it if prices were frozen or dropped but where else is that happening outside of football?

£10 for kids tickets is a great bargain whatever complaints you have u can't moan at that ! Sadly tho there will be plenty of parents who will go themselves shell out hundreds of pounds for themselves and forget they have kids ! Won't they Adam pyke

The Premier League Price Pledge changed two years ago Phil - it longer guaranteed to give 50% of the price of a possible subsequent Premier Season ticket but offered a 50% rebate on the Champion season ticket - i.e. here's £ 200 back against the price of a vastly increased Premiership season ticket. I wrote to the club twice about this as it was sold in the last two renewal packs as being the same deal when it wasn't - the club, on both occasions, didn't afford me a reply.

The academy should be self funding in both the transfer fees it saves by developing players and the transfer revenue it will gain by selling some of these players when the time is right. To try and emotionally blackmail fans in a time of general hardship is nothing short of despicable - totally against the ethos of this one great club. It is the same ethos that saw local suppliers not being paid on time for services/goods provided whilst Michael Chopra appears to have got away with not paying back the majority of a six figure sum because he was released from his contract (or sold on a free - technically very similar).

I put a post on here about four seasons ago which said the best thing that could have happened to ITFC was that we went into administration - accepted probable relegation with the associated points deficit - appointed Curbishley/Holland and started again bringing kids through and being the family club we once were. Nothing that has happened since then has changed my view.......

ITFC need to thinks again . Prices too high ground half empty little investment in the team when well placed for a top 6 position. Calling time on the season ticket as entertainment has been dire this season. Too many average players.

Very disappointed with the club regarding the Premiership pledge being dropped, I am not prepared to pay an extra £10 per month for their new proposal, I will reluctantly have to live with the Season ticket rise but feel very let down that they have changed their pledge to us loyal supporters, they should think very strongly about reversing that as it leaves a very bad taste.

Not really sure what the club is up to if i am honest but its difficult for them to look at costs and take the decision to reduce prices both for the season and on matchdays. I suppose they cannot guarantee that attendances will go up enough to cover the difference between the higher prices and the lower ones.

I live away these days so dont go as often as id like but my dad has a season ticket and he has said already that he doesnt feel like renewing for the first time since early 2000's. It sounds awful but we have agreed that we would much rather go to more away games than stick the home games out.

Often cheaper tickets and the days out are always fantastic! I love the club, always have and always will but in the real world they really are pricing us all out of a day out at Portman Road. I hope to god that this isnt a trend for years to come!

COYB's regardless of course!

The increase of season tickets is not the issue, the price for getting tickets on the day is a real shocker. But having supported the club since 1964 I will be renewing both of my season tickets as it is part of my life, surely the entertainment must improve next season.

ok, this is where I am.. I have had a season ticket for over 10 years but my wife had our first baby last year and I faced a tough decision to give up Season ticket or Sunday football to save some money and also spend more time with my boy. I kept the season ticket of course!
Now, I sit SBR Lower so I think the price is still good and I pay monthly interest free so cant really complain, however I am giving up time with my family and not being entertained!
Attendances are dropping (4 points off the play offs and 16k crowd) and I can understand why with poor standard of football and £30 at the gate.

I am desperate to see entertaining football / atmosphere back at Portman Road but I fear that unless Norwich come down we wont see a full house again next season.

Something drastic needs to change

Cloddyseedbed ........... you're not alone in no longer feeling part of the Club - fact is there is nothing now to suggest that we are anything other than a 'paying punter'.

That is indeed somewhat different to how it once was - BUT - all part of change and progress they tell me it is, in other words 'one step forward and two back'. Crowd levels today prove the point.
