Marriott Nets Four in Friendly
Monday, 28th Apr 2014 16:15

Jack Marriott netted four times and Byron Lawrence once as a Town development side beat Peterborough United 5-2 in a behind closed doors friendly at Nene Park Academy this afternoon.

The 19-year-old recently returned from his loan spell at Woking and could make his second senior appearance when the Blues complete their season with a game against Sheffield Wednesday at Portman Road on Saturday.

Joe Newell scored both goals for the home side, while ex-Posh striker Paul Taylor was in action for Town.

Might help ticket sales if mick said early this week that Marriott and some of the other nippers would be starting, he and us aren't going to learn anything about hunt, tabb, green etc so let's see Hewitt, mings etc

What about Lawrence? Give him a run out instead of Williams (who's a great lad, etc., but he ain't coming back).

How about selling him to Huddersfield for a couple of hundred grand?

Marriott and Taylor should start on Saturday, however I think Mick could well be worried that they may play too well, especially Taylor, so I doubt that he will give them both the chance that they richly deserve (in my opinion). I acknowledge what Mick has done for us and challenge him to prove me wrong Saturday, COYB.

How can Taylor - a man who attacked a doorman when off with a bad foot and missed a trip to Portugal because he was too drunk to get up for the bus - richly deserve a chance?

He must play shorely we have nothing to lose and 2 play at home would be good the boy has done well on loan and to get a first team game at home in front of us fans can only benefit him as a player and the club as a whole, I think he should start. Come on mick...

I believe more supporters would turn up just to see him play i would if it was possible which it isn't,i also believe he would score goals in the championship given the right service of coarse my opinion is he should start but with MM in charge there is not much hope of that happening.

In agreement. Nothing to lose by playing Marriott, but at least a half to give him a proper run out. Also agree that Lawrence should be given a go in centre midfield. Just tell them to go out and enjoy themselves. It will be interesting to see if/how Lavery plays for Wednesday.

Big gaz 67 .. Taylor is a footballer who is better than players that we have been playing , that is what he is paid for . Did Man Utd kick out Cantona for attacking a fan , Chelsea kick out Terry for shagging a team mates wife , Liverpool kick out Suarez for repeated offences on the field ? No they played them as soon as they could because they are better than what were replacing them .

Surco72 .......... a very good post.

Unfortunately bad / less than desirable behaviour is a VERY sad fact of modern life, not just in Football but everyday life, even in todays classrooms / school playgrounds - things aren't what they once were by far.

No deterent for any untoward behaviour anymore - but that's a debate for another place, and another day, until respect discipline can be returned to society. As if ??
