Town Confirm Stewart Signing
Tuesday, 1st Jul 2014 10:58

Town have confirmed the signing of winger Cameron Stewart on a three-year deal with an option for a further season. Last week, TWTD revealed that the Blues were eyeing the 23-year-old with his proposed permanent deal at Leeds on the verge of collapsing.

Stewart joined the Whites on loan from Hull in January when he also agreed a three-year permanent contract which would have been formalised today with his contract at the KC Stadium up yesterday.

However, with manager Brian McDermott having moved on and the club now under new owner Massimo Cellino, Leeds were keen to extricate themselves from the arrangement.

Stewart was at Town yesterday to undergo his medical before putting pen to paper on his contract this morning.

The Blues were mentioned in connection with a move for Stewart last summer and then again in January.

Stewart was also previously mentioned in connection with a move to Wolves during Blues assistant boss Terry Connor's time in charge at Molineux.

The left-sided wide man began his career with hometown club Manchester United during which time he went on loan to Yeovil and Hull before moving to the KC Stadium on a permanent basis in January 2011.

Having been on loan at Burnley and Blackburn during 2012/13, the former England U17, U19 and U20 international spent the first half of last season on loan with Charlton before making his move to Leeds in January with his Tigers time up this summer.

I work next to an avid Leeds fan who says he was very poor for them generally since he went there in January, and was hoping they would be able to get rid of him.

However Ive seen him a couple of times down here and think he could be just what we need marauding down one of the wings!!!

Fingers crossed his has a brilliant impact here like he has been tipped to do over the past couple of seasons - COYB!!

So thats 3 wide left players signed this week.
Probably all the wage budget for a right sider used up too.

So that means Anderson or Nouble pretending to be footballers on the right side, and 2 of the 3 left sided signings getting to warm the bench.

And people are happy about Micks 3 year deal?

For fs the window only opened at midnight we have 2 young paces players for free (not including wages and agents fees) and already people on here are moaning and whining, Now we need a goalie and to sort out our rightback situation then look at the right midfield and I feel a much better season is ahead.

In my opinion very shrewd signing. Looked great for Leeds and caused us loads of problems down the wings. A genuine pacey and 'actual' winger, to make up our package of wide players for next season.

Now for me the main concern and area of target is a goalkeeper and central midfielder. Bryson scored around 18 goals for Derby last season from midfield, and I know they didn't get promoted but with the form and consistency of our defence they would have. So that goes to show I think.

A few notable 'fans' not posting on here when we get great news like this.

I'm delighted with this becasue it once again proves we have a great manager, a great management team, and genuine hope that we are finally moving in the right direction. With everything that has gone against us at Town, it's the equivalent of turning an oil tanker around - doesn't happen quickly - but with signings like this one and even the great value we got from all those freebies last year, we can dream again.

Real pity some people only post on here when they've something negative to say.

Really pleased, 2 young wingers with pace, as has been previously said I do love how MM goes about his business, no pre signing fanfare or will we, won't we, just get him in, get him to sign, get a picture of him, announce it!!! COYBs!!!

Two very good firm signings this week, very pleased .Mick is really on the ball.we just have to be patient as to who else he will sign, but in Mick we trust.Looking very bright for the future.Having said that I would like to see a goalkeeper and a good midfielder with vision and the ability to score a few goals.

Think this will be a good signing if allowed to play natural game and stay out wide . If asked to tuck in centrally and defendas first option think he will become disinterested quickly . Good intentions so far by MM

I wouldn't read into whatever form he showed at Leeds. Joke club in a fair amount of turmoil for the period he was there.

Chuffed with the signing!

There's one player who will benefit from this signing more than most...Jack Marriot. Look at his Woking goal's. A "Faces" partnership...Stewart & Marriot !!

That bloke in the suit looks like a cut out from a 60s gangster movie.

Let's hope he add that spark we need in the midfield.

I reckon if Mick and Terry think they can make something of him, then I'll trust their judgement. We've seen at the World Cup what commitment can do. ITFC may not have the most skilful squad this coming season, but they WILL be dedicated and for that reason could do pretty well. COYB!

Now there's a headline to get some nostalgic butterflies fluttering.

I love the down votes - sorry that some of us living in the real world know that other sides unwanted cast offs are not essentially going to change the world here.
