Derby Set to Switch Back to Saturday
Friday, 4th Jul 2014 17:59

Suffolk Constabulary are recommending that Town’s home derby against Norwich should switch back to a 12.15pm kick-off on Saturday 23rd August following a meeting of interested parties this afternoon. The game had previously moved from 3pm on the Saturday to noon on Sunday 24th August.

The clubs, the police and local councils were amongst those attending the meeting to discuss matters relating to the game, including the rail engineering work which is taking place between Norwich and Ipswich on the Sunday and the resultant lack of trains.

The scheduling of the fixture will finally be confirmed early next week and now seems almost certain to be on the Saturday at 12.15pm, even if Sky Sports decide to show the game live.

Meanwhile the date for the p***-up in a brewery is still under convoluted negotiation.

Why 12:15? What's wrong with 12?

Well here's hoping I don't get a long delay on my return from holiday! Due to land early hours of the morning on 23rd! Only booked it after the match was confirmed as Sunday at 1pm

This is really annoying if it happens. To be honest, I did not realise that there were further discussions to take place. Why did itfc.co.uk announce a date change 3 days ago, if there were other meetings?

Following the club announcing the date change I bought tickets for something else. (Rugby League Challenge Cup final).

The club is run by idiots. Thanks a bunch

Ely_Blue - I'm in the same situatuon, although my flight lands at 11.35. Maybe I can persuade ME to detour past Stansted on his way to the ground!

Its not the clubs its the ferkin police. THEY cant organise a piss up in a brewery as the previous crowd control efforts of the last derby match at PR amply demonstrates.

God knows what these two police forces would do with a big derby match ie in Liverpool , Manchester , Newcastle etc . Pathetic doesnt cover it really!

It was the club that made an announcement that the date had changed though.

I still don't understand why not 3pm on a Saturday. What does a couple of hours earlier kick off actually achieve ? With this and all the other fixtures we are still waiting on they might have not bothered revealing them at all.

Cheshire Tractor. Yes the club's will make the announcement but they are being "advised" (told) when it should b played due to public order saftey concerns. Its a farce.

No, it's not that the club will make an announcement. The club have already made an announcement

If things had not been agreed with the police before that announcement then it is that where the club falls down.

Until they cleared things with the police, they should not have told everyone the date has been changed, as the club website did.

Prefer 3pm Saturday, but happy enough with that. Don't like football on Sundays unless it's on the TV!

This should have been thought through properly before ANY announcements. Hass turned into a farce

Good. Sense prevails. Just wish they could have got this right first time...then it wouldn't have disrupted fans plans so much.

Carsey, most pubs don't open until noon so those few hours difference mean a lot less drinking

I think it's good they are moving it back to Saturday, just shows the police/club/council will listen to reason. If it had stayed on Sunday the turn out and atmosphere would have been awful.
