McCarthy Looking For Taylor Replacement
Thursday, 14th Aug 2014 19:45

Town manager Mick McCarthy says he’s looking for an additional striker now that Paul Taylor has moved on to Rotherham United. The 26-year-old has joined the Millers on a half-season loan.

“With Tayls there until January, I hope to bring someone in as a replacement,” McCarthy told the club site.

“My stance hasn’t changed from last season and Tayls needs to go out and play games.

“If he plays regularly and gets some momentum going, then he may get back whatever it was he had before.

“Let’s hope he does, for him and for us. If he does then there might still be a home for him here, although I doubt it very much under me but we might be able to sell him on.”

Taylor’s departure has triggered perhaps inevitable speculation regarding the possible return of ex-loanee Jonny Williams, the Crystal Palace man having been spotted watching Tuesday’s game at Crawley.

Speaking after that match McCarthy said nothing should be read into his presence at the tie: “He’s come to watch the game, I’ve not had any discussions about him with anybody else. He’s come to watch his mates play, I would imagine.”

I think the D.J ship has sailed... I would presume Mick has someone lined up as the Taylor deal got agreed really fast, and he wont leave his squad short?

Let's hope we have a replacement lined up, plus for the three loanees we had last year who have of yet not been replaced.

Mick has been totally unprofessional with regards the taylor saga, i understand he may be not be his kind of player but to talk about it so publicly has been wrong. As for his love child nouble who's scoring record is 1 goal per 10/11 games he's never said a word against him!

I am surprised that MM appeared to offer him the chance to come and play for Town again. I don't have a problem with Taylor going on loan or permanently. MM has hardly made it a secret that he requires everyone to work for the team and if you don't put a shift in you are not going to play for him. Taylor is either arrogant, thick or just lazy. However you slice it there is clearly something not right with Taylors attitude.

Mick straight talking as ever! And to think some people accuse Mick of playing games with players and messing people about. One thing you can guarantee is that he's not one for messing about, rightly or wrongly, he thinks what he thinks and isn't afraid of telling anyone.

Northernblues I couldn't agree less. Taylor has been told publicly by MM what he has to do and hasn't done it. I prefer Micks straight forward style. Also Mick hasn't gone into details. Look at Taylors record, Cocaine, assault, dumped by a loan club for three serious breaches of discipline.. I think he has been in trouble with the cops before the latest one as well. I trust MM and also re: Nouble, his goal scoring record isn't great, but he's a handful for defenders and puts the work in. Its no coincidence that the players have huge respect for the manager so his style of doing things must be ok with them?

Just back tracking slightly.... Mick liked D.J when he was here and tried to sign him, he's 32 and is decent at this level. It wouldn't be a bad signing and he is much better than Nouble :)

Also.... I wonder why Mick didn't fancy signing Lita after his trial?

Right..whose big and strong, not very good with ball at his feet but will put in the effort (not describing Nouble) - guarantee it won't be a player who is relatively small and fast.

Is DJ not still on bail for the spot fixing? I thought that was still ve looked into, either way seems like that might be why hes struggling for a club. Dont think MM would risk it. Jimmy Kebbe and or Williams for me please

We will have to wait to see if Williams is in the 25 man palace squad

My granny is better than Frank! Clearly Taylor isn't in MM's plans even if he does well at Rotherham but can't quite understand Williams situ. Not sure what friends he has at PR so I hope MM has underplayed it and he will be signing for us permanently
Next ship out Frank and sign quality goal scorer then perhaps we will get into top 6.

If Pulis is about to leave Palace lets hope they want McCarthy as his replacement then perhaps we will have a little less Nouble and a little more Taylor. Let him go and bore the pants off people in South London
