Keane: At Ipswich I Managed Badly
Keane: At Ipswich I Managed Badly
Tuesday, 7th Oct 2014 13:26

Former Town boss Roy Keane’s second autobiography The Second Half is published Thursday but after a Manchester branch of Tesco put it on sale early passages have begun to appear on Twitter and in the national media.

While much of the material leaked so far centres around his time at Manchester United, the Irishman includes a chapter on what he accepts were 20 unsuccessful months at Town.

"I don't think I'm a bad manager, but at Ipswich I managed badly,” he says in the book, which he wrote with Booker Prize-winning author Roddy Doyle.

"I spoke to some people like something on the bottom of my shoe,” concedes Keane, who is now the assistant manager of the Republic of Ireland and Aston Villa.

“I couldn't feel it - me and the club,” he admitted, adding, "I don't f****** like blue. City were blue, Rangers were blue. My biggest rivals were blue. Is that childish?”

The Second Half is officially published on Thursday and is available from Amazon here.

Keane was the only manager I would have accepted being replaced by John Duncan.

At least he admits he managed badly and treated people poorly.

Let's not forget how many fans were excited when he arrived. I don't think Paul Jewel would admit to managing us badly. He'd say he was unlucky. Keane like him or loathe him doesn't hide.

Yes he did manage badly, without question. He didn't f****** like blue, but he liked Evans' beefy contract offer to him to manage us.

For all his many many many MANY flaws & the terrible terrible predicament he left McCarthy to sort out, Jewell at least had affection for the club & you'd never have heard him say a bad thing about Town. Keane is too arrogant and self obsessed to become a good manager, this is further proof.

No s**t Sherlock?! What a prick! Doesn't like blue - "does that make me childish?" No, it makes you retarded! Took us back 5 years in those 20 months... Sod off... What a prick.

It is childish.

"I don't like blue"

What a disgrace. MM is running the club so much better than him as well, which rubs salt in his personal wounds.

Should never have been appointed. Sad that he still has a job in football.

Phil, guys, please take down that photo of him with Town badge on his chest, I think it insults everyone here. And probably everyone who actually likes blue.

3rd January 2015, Villa @ FPR me thinks.
BTW, I hate yellow, that includes flowers, pages and coldplay songs. I just can't get round it.

Managed badly? Worst manager we have ever had, and that includes John Duncan."Managed appallingly and I am so sorry to every fan of the club" might have been better.

If anyone needs reminding how lucky we are to have MM they should just think of the time when our club had a temporary name change to "Roy Keane's Ipswich Town" He never belonged here and the damage he did has only recently been repaired.PJ tried but failed to repair the damage and it has taken Mick to repair it and take the club back towards where it belongs.

He's clearly lying in his new book : there are contradictions galore between the first and second installments.A summary of some events in his first book are on his Wikipedia page
