Murphy Wins PFA Award
Wednesday, 3rd Dec 2014 15:51

Town striker Daryl Murphy has been named November's Sky Bet Championship PFA Fans' Player of the Month.

Murphy is currently the joint-second top scorer in the division on 11 goals along with Blackburn’s Rudy Gestede, one behind Nottingham Forest’s Britt Assombalonga.

The 31-year-old scored four times in Town’s five games during November and also won his 14th full Republic of Ireland cap in the 4-1 friendly victory over the USA.

Town boss McCarthy is likely to be amongst the nominees for the November Championship Manager of the Month award when they are announced on Thursday morning.

The Blues picked up 13 points from 15 during the month, however, Brentford boss Mark Warburton looks to be the favourite to carry off the award - which McCarthy won in September - his side having picked up a maximum 15. The winner is announced on Friday morning.

I have to say I have always been a little critical of Murphy is the past mainly due to his lack of goals and pace. Work rate is always up there with the best. For me Murphy has now found his confidence and looks a totally different player. Goals breed confidence and now he'll take pot shots where as before he would look to lay the ball off. Excellent news well done Murph COYB

Very well deserved too! Congrats Murph. Always been a decent hold up player but he's added a new dimension to his game this year and well on his way to 20+ goals. Hopefully him and Didz can keep fit and firing!

The way he uses his strength to bully defenders about and drag them this way and that means he contributes to even more goals than he scores. Long may his rich vein of form continue for us.

Fully deserved.
Dont think anybody has mentioned the defensive aspect of his game at corners.
Cant believe how much he has improved, and although much credit to Daryl, think Mick and Terry should also take some of the credit too.
Was only saying the other day how we once again have current international,as well as award winners and players that are now considered assets by other clubs who have started to covert them!
Oh happy days, now can we start to beat teams by more than the odd goal occasionally;but perhaps am being a bit picky!!!

Maybe a stupid question, but is this the same award Tyrone won for September? Seems like there are so many differing awards these days it's hard to know which is the 'official' player of the month award

Very well deserved Murph, his all round contribution has been immense this season and his example has spread confidence throughout the squad and as a result we are now a force to be reckoned with and a never say die spirit which has been missing for so long, the boys are doing it on the pitch, now it's our turn let's raise the roof with noise starting against Leeds and make Portman Road a place as intimidating as possible and let those boys in the blue shirts know that we want the promised land as much as they do.

Mick is aways saying what a great coach TC is with the strikers. Murph must be the supreme example and beneficiary surely of TC's coaching - if only he was in his mid twenties rather than 31! This is Towns season at long last.

Might as well give him the Golden Boot while they are at it. I reckon he will get 32 at seasons end.
