McCarthy Nominated for Manager of the Month
Thursday, 4th Dec 2014 06:00

Town boss Mick McCarthy has been nominated for the November Championship Manager of the Month award.

McCarthy is up against new Bolton and Birmingham bosses Neil Lennon and Gary Rowett, who have made impressive starts to their new jobs, and Brentford’s Mark Warburton.

The Bees manager would appear to be the strong favourite to land the gong with his side having picked up 15 points from 15 in November to move up to third behind the second-placed Blues - who took 13 points from their five games - on goal difference. The winner will be announced on Friday morning.

McCarthy previously won the September award - when Tyrone Mings was named the Player of the Month - to become the first Town boss to win Manager of the Month since Joe Royle in November 2004.

The current Town boss picked up the award three times with his previous clubs, once with Sunderland and twice with Wolves.

Well done MM....although I think Warburton is nailed on for it this month!

I tend to agree with you hoppersblue, but who have Brentford's games been against? Ours included 7 points taken from Watford, Wolves and Bournemouth, all of whom were above us in the top few places of the league at the time.

Having said that, I hope Warburton gets it - I guess Brentford fans think he's the best thing since sliced bread...

Let's take the plaudits for Micks Nomination as reward enough, gracefully applaud Mark Warburton as he collects the poison chalice, then run as fast as we can in the opposite direction, dodging the infamous Manager of the Month bullet, that is now heading straight for the dugout at Griffin Park!! 😉

Gary Rowett for me, won 3 and drawn 2 in November, that's some turn around given how miserable they were under Lee Clark.

Think all four deserve it to be honest.

OH hoppy. That was nearly hilarious. But I think those half baked jokes are terrible, you won't get a rise out of me. No knead to get angry though, I hope you're not a gluten for punishment.

Warburton is the bread winner of the family, and his job should be respected, he's the one bringing in the dough. When he wins it at least he gets the right to loaf around the home looking smug.

last time MM won Manager of the month there was a dip in form, so let's be happy with the nomination and hope Warburton picks up the award with a slump in form to follow!

personally, i believe MM deserves it again as like others have said, our points were much tougher to bring home than theirs, such as beating watford, wolves and a being the first team to take 3 points at the valley this season, but I would rather Warburton get it as it might bring the curse of the manager of the month back on, and we can go there and take the 3 points!!! having said that, credit to brentford as 15 from 15 in any league is a great achievement, and i bet noone would have thought they would be this high up at this stage if the season!

what a flaming job MM and TC have done this season, outstanding!! can we believe?

i'm going to the gane tomorrow, and kt isn't going to be easy! come on you mighty blues!!

Just trying to sandwich my comments between all these awful puns. I hope I don't make a bloomer with the spelling or its back to the farmhouse for me.

It's indeed an honour and great recognition for MM (and indirectly TC) once again. As others have suggested, having recently won the award and with other valid contenders it may not happen for him this time...even though we know that he's the best of the bunch!
